PURPOSE:To decrease the number of digits for the dial operation at the calling side and then avoid the malfunction, by describing the abbreviated number showing the remote subscriber information on the facsimile transmission original in the form of the mark. CONSTITUTION:The abbreviated numbers of subscribers B and C (not shown in the figure) are described at the prescribed positions in the form of marks. With storage converter 9, the marks are read out by mark reader 10 and from the head FAX signal to then convert them into the abbreviated numbers of the remote subscriber each. The subsequent FAX signal receives the compression coding to be then stored in memory 14 under the control of controller 13. Controller 13 sends the abbreviated number read out to repeating exchange 6 through common line 15, and these numbers are converted into the dial information of subscribers B and C via subscriber file 16 to be informed to controller 13. Converter 9 requests the call of FAX terminal 2' of subscriber B to exchange 6 based on the dial information.
