In a recording device using an electrophotographic method such as a copying machine or a laser printer, a toner image transferred from a photoreceptor to a sheet-like image support is passed between a pair of rollers equipped with a heat source and transferred to the image support using heat and pressure. A heat roll fixing device that fixes images is known.
When this heat roll fixing device is used to fix a toner image on an image laminated support that is made up of multiple sheets like an envelope and bound in a bag shape, the back side of the support that has passed through it is Wrinkles occur in the longitudinal direction, which not only impairs image quality but also makes the support itself unusable due to the wrinkles.

In general, heat roll fixing devices have the problem that wrinkles occur even on a sheet of plain paper, which is the image support that is normally used. Various measures have been taken to reduce this. As shown in FIG. 2, a slit 4 is formed by a guide member 3 between the surface of either the heat fixing roller 1 or the pressure roller 2, and the transfer paper 5 is passed through the slit 4 between the rollers 1 and 2. Japanese Patent Publication No. 53-35731 proposes a device that leads to the contact point. According to this, the transfer paper 5 once hits the heat fixing roller 1, its leading edge is aligned to some extent, and when the leading edge is nipped between the rollers 1 and 2, the transfer paper 5 hits the leading edge of the guide member 3, so the transfer paper 5 enters the fixing section in a nearly flat shape, thereby reducing the occurrence of wrinkles. Furthermore, based on the same idea, a method of using a rotatable cylindrical guide roller instead of a plate-shaped guide member has been proposed in JP-A-58-172672 and JP-A-59-137976. There is.

When an image support made of multiple stacked sheets of paper, such as an envelope, is passed through a heat roll fixing device, wrinkles occur on the pressure roller side. After observing the occurrence of wrinkles in detail, we found that the cause of this phenomenon is as follows.

Generally, a heat roll fixing device has a configuration as shown in FIG. In the figure, heating fixing roller 1
is in the shape of an aluminum pipe, a heater 6 of a halogen lamp serving as a heat source is disposed inside the pipe, and a coating resin 7 for preventing toner offset is coated on the surface thereof. The pressure roller 2 is made of a stainless steel core metal part 8, and a silicone rubber layer 9, which is an elastic body, is formed on the surface of the core metal part 8.
It is pressed against the heat fixing roller 1 by a spring member or the like. When a plurality of stacked sheets of paper are passed through such a heat roll fixing device, the surface in contact with the heat fixing roller 1 and The conveying speeds of the surfaces in contact with the pressure roller 2 are different, and the stacked papers tend to shift vertically, causing shear stress in the feeding direction. This is the cause of wrinkles in a support made of multiple stacked sheets, such as an envelope.

In order to prevent the above-mentioned wrinkles, it can be reduced by lowering the pressing pressure of the pressure roller 2 against the heat fixing roller 1. However, by lowering the pressing pressure, the nip cannot be removed sufficiently, making it impossible to properly fix the toner image on the support.

In other words, the conventional techniques for preventing these wrinkles are effective only when the image support is a single sheet, and are not applicable to a laminated support for images made by stacking multiple sheets, such as the above-mentioned envelope. has no effect. Therefore, even if anti-wrinkle measures are taken as in the prior art, wrinkles still occur when an envelope or the like is passed through a heat roll fixing device, which poses a problem.

The purpose of the present invention is to eliminate the drawbacks of the above-mentioned conventional examples,
It is an object of the present invention to provide a fixing device capable of good recording without wrinkles, not only on a single sheet but also on a plurality of laminated supports such as envelopes, which are sealed on at least one side.

As shown in FIG. 1, an auxiliary pressure roller 13 is provided in front of the main pressure roller 12. By providing this auxiliary pressure roller, the support body 14 is wound around the heat fixing roller 1 side, and the pressure roller 1
The surface of the support can come into contact with the heating fixing roller 1 between the positions 2 and 13, and the toner image on the support can be fixed well.

Furthermore, by controlling the rotational speed of the auxiliary pressure roller 13 relative to the rotational speed of the main pressure roller 12, the difference in conveyance speed due to the difference in the coefficient of friction between the surfaces of the heat fixing roller 1 and the pressure roller 12 can be corrected. be able to. For example, if the conveying speed or conveying force on the pressure roller 12 side is higher than that on the heat fixing roller 1 side, the rotation speed of the auxiliary pressure roller 13 is set to be slightly slower than the rotation speed of the main pressure roller 12.
This corresponds to applying a brake to the back side of the support, and not only can the conveyance speed on the pressure roller 12 side be reduced, but also the support 14 can be stretched between both pressure rollers 12 and 13, and heated. Adhesion to the fixing roller 1 can be increased, resulting in improved fixing performance.

FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of one embodiment of the present invention.
A main pressure roller 12 and an auxiliary pressure roller 13 are provided opposite to the heat fixing roller 1 so as to be in contact with each other and rotate in the direction of the arrow. A conveyor belt 15 is provided for conveying a support 14 such as an envelope having a transferred toner image on its upper surface toward these rollers 1, 12, and 13. This conveyor belt 1

The pressing pressure of the main pressure roller 12 against the heat fixing roller 1 is usually 1 kg/cm 2 or more between the nips and approximately 20 kg between the rolls as a whole. This is to remove the nip. In the case of this embodiment, in order to prevent the occurrence of wrinkles, the pressing pressure is lowered to the extent that the support does not slip. Its pressure range is below 0.5Kg/cm 2 and 0.1Kg/cm 2
degree is most appropriate. The pressing pressure of the auxiliary pressing roller 13 is also set to be approximately the same as the pressing pressure of the main pressing roller 12.

The operation of the above embodiment will be explained. In a recording apparatus equipped with the heat roll fixing device of this embodiment, the heat fixing roller 1 rotates in the direction of the arrow in the figure in conjunction with the main motor. Since the main pressure roller 12 is in pressure contact with the heat fixing roller 1, it is driven by friction and rotates in the direction of the arrow in the figure. Auxiliary pressure roller 13
A drive motor 19 is attached to the drive motor 19 for controlling the rotational speed, and until the support 14 sent from the conveyor belt 15 side is bitten by the main pressure roller 12, the peripheral speed is the same as the circumferential speed of the heat fixing roller 1. It is rotated at the circumferential speed, but after the support 14 is bitten, the rotation speed is slightly lowered than the previous speed, and the support 14 is stretched between both rollers 12 and 13, and the heat fixing roller is rotated. Increase adhesion to 1. The timing of changing the rotational speed can be easily determined by the process speed and the arrangement of the rollers 1, 12, 13.

As a result of actual recording experiments with the recording device using this embodiment, we found that it is possible to record images not only on plain paper, which is usually used as an image support, but also on supports made of multiple stacked sheets such as envelopes. It was also possible to achieve good fixation without causing wrinkles.

As described above, the present invention further provides an auxiliary pressure roller in front of the main pressure roller, and changes the rotational speed of the auxiliary pressure roller as the support passes, thereby bringing the support into close contact with the heat fixing roller. As a result, the pressing pressure of the main pressure roller and the auxiliary pressure roller against the heat fixing roller can be reduced, and there is an effect that wrinkles do not occur even on a support such as an envelope.
