従来のロータリーカツターは、第2図、及び、
第3図に示すように、回転刃2の両端が、軸3に
より、両側板(図示せず)に回転自在に支承され
ている。かつ、その回転刃2の刃先は、回転円筒
周面上に傾斜して設けられている。一方固定刃1
は、その両端の支承軸4によつて両側板(図示せ
ず)に、回転自在に支承され、かつ、固定刃1に
設けられたピン5を介したばね7によつて、固定
刃1の刃先が回転刃2の刃先に圧接される。又、
固定刃1の別な構成として、第4図に示すように
刃金のみにて構成された固定刃1が、ベースプレ
ート8に板ばね9によつて支承され、かつ、固定
刃1の刃先は、回転刃2の刃先に板ばね9により
圧接されている。図示していない駆動装置によつ
て、回転刃2に回転が与えられると、固定刃1と
回転刃2との間に置かれたロール紙6が切断され
る。かゝる構成において、固定刃1はロール紙6
の切断の過程において切断抵抗により、長さ方向
における撓みを生じ、その撓み量によつては切り
損じを生ずる原因ともなるので固定刃1は切断抵
抗に耐え得るだけの剛性が必要となる。感熱記録
紙で、厚さ65μm、幅300mm程度のロール紙切断に
は、厚さ3mm、幅12mmの刃金材焼入品相当以上の
剛性を必要とする。その為、第2図、及び第3図
に示すような小断面の刃金1bを差し込む構造の
固定刃1においては、その剛性を保つ為に刃金保
持台1aは大きな断面の軟鋼材を必要としロータ
リーカツターの装置全体の重量を大きくし、好ま
しくなかつた。
