Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent image jitter from being generated by dividing a disposal toner compression member into plural pieces in the longitudinal direction of the rotary shaft of an image holding body, and providing phase difference in the operating cycles of the compressive motion of a toner by divided disposal toner compression member. CONSTITUTION:A scraping member 22 is constituted of a driving shaft 23 and four scraping plates (24a-24d) with respective phase angle of 90 deg., and is rotated centering the driving shaft 23. Also, the disposal compression plates (28a-28d) are formed in divided thin plate shape, and its one end is fixed on the back inner wall 14 of a disposal toner box 28, and another and is arranged so as to be connected slidably with the scraping plates (24a-24d), respectively at the time of turning. In other words, a disposal toner is compressed by the disposal compression plate 28a which deforms elastically as being pressed according to the turning of the scraping plate 24a. In such a way, it is possible to reduce the load torque of a driving motor generated at the time of performing compression and to uniformize fluctuation, and to prevent the image jitter from being generated.

As for such a collection method, waste toner is mainly introduced into a waste toner box using a spiral conveying means and collected by falling (for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 58-57076). As waste toner is collected, a space is created inside the box and the collection capacity is small. The volume inside the rebox cannot be fully utilized and a large volume waste toner box is required, resulting in poor collection efficiency and the overall size of the device. It had some drawbacks, such as: On the other hand, a method has been proposed to solve this problem l) vibrating Yamabushi's waste toner using some kind of vibration means to smooth it out and increase the actual volume of the box; Moreover, it has the disadvantage that it involves the risk of contaminating the inside of the device due to scattering and leakage of waste toner.

An embodiment of the present invention will be described below based on the drawings. FIG. 1 is a sectional view schematically showing the main parts of a laser beam printer equipped with a cleaning/cleaning device according to the present invention. In the figure, numeral 1 is a photosensitive drum made of a photoconductive material such as S e % OPC. When the photosensitive drum 1, which is rotatably supported by the printer main body, is rotationally driven in the direction of arrow A by a drive source (not shown), the surface of the drum is uniformly charged with corona by a charging device. The laser beam modulated by the one-sided image signal is reflected by the rotating polygon mirror 3, passes through the imaging optical system 12, and sweeps the charged portion on the photoreceptor drum 1 in the direction of the rotation axis to expose the drum surface. An electrostatic latent image is formed. This electrostatic latent image is visualized by toner when passing through a developing device U14 that forms a magnetic brush. The toner image formed in this manner is transferred by the transfer device 5 from the transfer paper stacker 8 onto a transfer paper 9 that is fed to a transfer position in synchronization with the toner image on the photosensitive drum 1. After the transfer, the transfer paper 9 is separated from the photosensitive drum 1, sent to the fixing device 10, and discharged onto the paper discharge tray 11. The surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 after the transfer is approximately 20 to 3
0% of untransferred toner remains attached, and this residual toner is removed by the cleaning device 6. The drum portion that has been cleaned is neutralized to a certain level by the static eliminator 7, and is ready for the next image forming process.

An embodiment of the cleaning/cleaning device according to the present invention will be explained in detail with reference to FIG. Identical members in the figures are denoted by the same reference numerals. The cleaning blade 20 is made of a material such as polyurethane rubber, and removes residual toner on the surface of the photoreceptor drum 1 by a known method. The sealing member 21 is made of a material such as a PET sheet or a Teflon sheet, which prevents toner from adhering to the photoreceptor drum 1 and does not adversely affect the photosensitive drum 1. It comes into contact with the drum surface to prevent toner from leaking from the opening of the cleaning device 6. The scraping member 22 is removed by the cleaning blade 20 and the front plate 2
The waste toner 13 falling and accumulating on the inner wall surface of the waste toner box 26 is rotated in the direction of arrow B while substantially scraping the inner wall surface, and is conveyed to the waste toner box 26 . The details of the scraping member 22 will be explained using FIG. 3. The scraping member 22 includes four scraping plates 24 (a) to 24 (
d), and is rotated about a drive shaft 23 by a drive source (not shown). The material of the sliding plates 24(a) to 24(d) is preferably a rigid material such as a phosphor bronze plate or a resin material, and they may be made of a separate material from the drive shaft 23 or formed integrally. However, the effect is the same. In Figure 2, 27
A waste toner compression member is a waste toner compression plate that elastically reciprocates by being compressed as the scraping member 22 rotates. The arrangement of the scraping member 22 and the waste toner compression member 27 will be explained in detail with reference to FIG. The waste toner compression plates 28(a) to 28(d) have a thin plate shape divided into four parts, one end of which is connected to the rear inner wall 14 of the waste toner box 26.
24 (a) ~ 24
The materials of the waste toner compression plates 28(a) to 28(d), which are arranged so as to be in sliding contact with each other when rotating, may be flexible materials such as PET sheets, phosphor bronze plates, thin resin sheets, etc. It is preferable to use a material that has a high level of elasticity.

The manner in which waste toner is compressed and recovered by the scraping member 22 and the waste toner compression member 27 will be described with reference to FIGS. 5(a) and 5(b). For the sake of simplicity, only the operations of the pair of scraping plates 24(a) and waste toner compression plate 28(a) will be described in detail, but the operations of the other three pairs are the same except that the phase angles differ by 90 degrees. . The toner removed from the photoreceptor drum by the cleaning blade and falling and depositing on the inner wall surface of the front surface &25 is scraped off by the scraping plate 24(a) and placed in the waste toner box 26 located at the bottom of the scraping member 22. 5(
a) It is further dropped and collected as shown in the figure. As the amount of the collected waste toner 13 increases in this manner and reaches the state shown in Figure 5(b), the waste toner 13 is elastically deformed while being pressed as the scraping plate 24(a) rotates. Waste toner compression plate 2

is a cantilever-like reciprocating motion that returns to its original position, that is, to the position where it contacts the drive shaft 23, due to its own elastic force when the sliding contact by the scraping plate 24 (a) is released as it rotates. Do the following. According to the waste toner compression mechanism, it has been confirmed through experiments by the inventor of the present invention that it is possible to collect 1.5 to 1.6 times more waste toner by weight than when collecting waste toner by gravity. There is.

The scraping plates 24(a) to 24 using FIG. 6 and FIG.
(d) and the effect of dividing the waste toner compression plates 28(a) to 28(d) into four in the direction of the drive shaft 23 will be explained. FIG. 6 is a graph showing the correlation between the rotation angle of the drive shaft and the torque generated when compressing waste toner when the scraping plate and the waste toner compression plate are integrally formed without being separated. As the waste toner compression plate is suppressed, the torque increases rapidly, and the rB of the scraping plate increases.
When ll is released, it tends to decrease rapidly, and the fluctuations in torque follow the sudden changes in the load on the drive motor. On the other hand, in the 4-division compression mechanism with a phase difference according to the present invention, t
jE7 As shown in the figure, since the waste toner is not compressed at the same time, the maximum torque decreases and the difference between the maximum and minimum torques also decreases, making it possible to suppress load fluctuations of the drive motor, thereby reducing so-called image jitter. The risk of occurrence is also avoided.
