Description
The present invention is a valve device for a gaseous medium, wherein the valve device has a valve body having an opening defined by the peripheral surface of the valve body through which the medium can pass in the flow direction, and an opening. It has an orifice arranged in a gap in the valve body so that it can be displaced perpendicular to the flow direction in order to affect the flow through the valve, and the gap has a peripheral surface on the inlet side partial circumference. It relates to a valve device, which is divided into a surface and an outlet side partial peripheral surface, the outlet side partial peripheral surface having a first edge facing the orifice and a second edge facing away from the orifice.
The above types of valve devices are well known. They are used to regulate the flow of a gaseous medium through an opening, for example. The adjustment is made by changing the cross section of the opening through which the flow passes due to the displacement of the orifice perpendicular to the flow direction.
During operation, this type of valve device produces very pronounced noise radiation, which can be perceived, especially in the ascending range of about 40-100% of the orifice.
This type of partially very noticeable noise emission is undesirable in many applications.
With respect to this background technique, an object of the present invention is, in particular, to develop the valve device described first to achieve reduction of noise radiation.
The object is achieved, in particular, by assigning the first edge to at least one geometric feature configured to make the first edge non-uniform.
We have surprisingly identified that the non-uniform geometry of the first edge leads to a reduction in noise as the gaseous medium passes through the opening. "Breaking" the symmetry of the flow clearly leads to a constant pressure wave, which is also a changing factor of noise.
In this context, the term "edge" should be understood to mean an edge region that connects two faces that are approximately perpendicular to each other. As a result, "edge" should not be understood to simply mean a geometric line, but can also be an area.
It is particularly preferred that at least one geometric feature is configured as a recess in the exit-side partial peripheral that opens towards the first edge. Preferably there are multiple recesses of this type.
The one geometric feature or the plurality of geometric features leads to providing a non-uniform path to the first edge that prevents a symmetrical configuration of the flow.
Alternatively, or in addition, the geometric features can also be configured as at least one ridge that is provided at the first edge and preferably projects into the opening.
As a result, the geometry of the edges through which the flow passes also changes, resulting in the same prevention of symmetric flow.
This type of geometric feature is particularly preferably a flexible structure, i.e., made from a flexible material such as rubber.
The use of flexible materials has been found to be advantageous in terms of noise reduction.
In addition, or instead, the geometric features are located in the gaps, preferably flexible and configured as elements that project into the openings. Geometric features are particularly preferably part of the end seal for the orifice.
In either case, since there must be an end seal of this type for the orifice, the geometric features also prove to be particularly advantageous and, in addition, can be realized at a very low cost.
In a more preferred embodiment, the valve body is configured as a cast part and the geometric feature is a component of the cast part.
The means have the advantage that geometric features that need to reduce noise can also be very easily pre-configured during the casting process of the valve body. Subsequent machining steps are not necessary as a result.
It goes without saying that it is possible to manufacture the valve body using a casting method and then introduce geometric features in the subsequent material removal process. The advantage of the solution would be that only one mold would be needed for the two housing plates.
In one preferred evolution, the orifice has a lower edge of an arched, preferably partially circular, or partially elliptical structure.
Geometric features are more preferably provided in the area of the peripheral surface adjacent to the area of the gap into which the orifice enters during the closure of the opening.
That is, in other words, the geometric features are provided in the area of the opening, which is located in the flow of virtually the entire operating area of the valve device. Geometric features are particularly preferably the area of the peripheral surface that is located in the flow when the orifice is 60% open (100% means fully open), preferably 40% and very preferably 20% open. Is located in.
The present invention is of particular interest in the case of an orifice adjustment slide valve for adjusting gas flow.
The features described in the above text and subsequently described in the following text may be used not only in the combinations specified respectively, but also in other combinations or alone, without departing from the scope of the present invention. Needless to say.

We have surprisingly identified here that the
In order to reduce noise emission, the
