Description

本発明は、磁気テープ若しくは磁気記録ディスク等の磁気記録媒体、電波吸収体、インダクタ若しくはプリント基板等の電子デバイス(ヨーク等の軟磁性体)、光触媒、核酸抽出用磁気ビーズ若しくは医療用マイクロスフィア等に用いる被覆金属微粒子、及びその製造方法に関する。   The present invention relates to a magnetic recording medium such as a magnetic tape or a magnetic recording disk, a radio wave absorber, an electronic device such as an inductor or a printed circuit board (soft magnetic material such as a yoke), a photocatalyst, a magnetic bead for nucleic acid extraction, a medical microsphere, etc. TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to coated metal fine particles used for manufacturing and a manufacturing method thereof.

電子機器の高性能化及び小型軽量化に伴い、電子デバイスの高性能化及び小型軽量化とともに、電子デバイスを構成する材料の高性能化及びナノサイズ化も要求されている。例えば磁気テープに塗布する磁性粒子は、磁気記録密度の向上を目的として、ナノサイズ化と磁化の向上が同時に要求されている。   As electronic devices become more sophisticated and smaller and lighter, there is a demand for higher performance and smaller size and weight of electronic devices, as well as higher performance and nano-size of materials constituting electronic devices. For example, magnetic particles applied to magnetic tape are required to be nanosized and magnetized at the same time for the purpose of improving magnetic recording density.

ナノ磁性粒子は主に共沈法や水熱合成法等の液相合成法により製造されている。液相合成法で得られるナノ磁性粒子はフェライトやマグネタイト等の酸化物粒子である。最近では有機金属化合物の熱分解を利用した方法も採用されており、例えばFe(CO)からFeのナノ磁性粒子が製造されている。 Nanomagnetic particles are mainly produced by a liquid phase synthesis method such as a coprecipitation method or a hydrothermal synthesis method. Nanomagnetic particles obtained by the liquid phase synthesis method are oxide particles such as ferrite and magnetite. Recently, a method using thermal decomposition of an organometallic compound has also been adopted. For example, Fe nanoparticle of Fe is produced from Fe (CO) 6 .

Since metal magnetic particles have larger magnetization than oxide particles such as ferrite, they are highly expected for industrial use. For example, the saturation magnetization of metallic Fe is 218 Am 2 / kg, which is very large compared to iron oxide, and therefore has the advantage of excellent magnetic field response and high signal intensity. However, metal fine particles such as metal Fe easily oxidize. For example, when fine particles of 100 μm or less, particularly 1 μm or less, burn with intense heat in the atmosphere due to an increase in specific surface area, it is difficult to handle in a dry state. Therefore, oxide particles such as ferrite and magnetite have been widely used.

乾燥した金属微粒子を取り扱う場合、金属微粒子を直接大気(酸素)に触れさせないように粒子表面に被覆を付与することが不可欠である。しかし、特許文献1のように自身の金属酸化物で表面を被覆する方法は、少なからず金属を酸化劣化させる。   When handling dried metal fine particles, it is essential to provide a coating on the particle surface so that the metal fine particles are not directly exposed to the atmosphere (oxygen). However, the method of covering the surface with its own metal oxide as in Patent Document 1 oxidizes and degrades the metal.

In Patent Document 2, carbonaceous material particles such as carbon black and natural graphite are mixed with particles of a single metal or metal compound particles (the metal compound is selected from a metal oxide, a metal carbide, or a metal salt). A method for producing graphite-coated metal fine particles by heat treatment at 1600 to 2800 ° C. in an inert gas atmosphere and cooling at a cooling rate of 45 ° C./min or less is proposed. However, in this method, since the metal-containing material particles are heat-treated at an extremely high temperature of 1600 to 2800 ° C., there is a concern about sintering of the metal fine particles. In addition, the method of coating the fine metal particles with graphite has a problem that the production efficiency is low.

その上、グラファイトはグラフェンシートが積層した構造を有するため、球状の金属微粒子を被覆した場合、必ず格子欠陥が導入される。これらの欠陥が存在する被覆では、磁気ビーズ等、高耐食性が要求される用途では不満足である。そのため、高耐食性の金属微粒子、及びそれを安価に製造し得る工業生産性に優れた方法が望まれている。   In addition, since graphite has a structure in which graphene sheets are laminated, lattice defects are always introduced when spherical metal fine particles are coated. Coatings with these defects are unsatisfactory for applications that require high corrosion resistance, such as magnetic beads. Therefore, a highly corrosion-resistant metal fine particle and a method excellent in industrial productivity capable of producing it at low cost are desired.

また、グラファイトは電気良導体であり、粒子間の絶縁性を維持することが困難である。したがって、グラファイト被覆金属微粒子は、高周波環境下で用いられる圧粉磁芯や電波吸収体などに適用される場合、渦電流が容易に発生し、渦電流損が大きくなるので好ましくない。   Further, graphite is a good electrical conductor and it is difficult to maintain the insulation between particles. Accordingly, when the graphite-coated metal fine particles are applied to a dust core or a radio wave absorber used in a high frequency environment, eddy currents are easily generated and eddy current loss is increased, which is not preferable.

In order to solve the above problems, the present inventors reduced the metal oxide by mixing a metal oxide and titanium carbide powder and heat-treating in a nitrogen gas atmosphere, thereby providing a highly corrosion-resistant Ti oxide coating. We are conducting research to produce fine metal particles. However, due to the production method, the growth of sintered grains is inevitable, and there is a problem in the synthesis of fine and uniform particles. Further, the Ti oxide has an electrical resistivity of 3.0 × 10 2 Ω · m (TiO 2 ), and the electrical resistivity of Al 2 O 3 and SiO 2 (1.0 × 10 14 and 1.0 ×, respectively). 10 12 Ω · m), it was difficult to maintain insulation only with the Ti oxide coating layer.

本発明の目的は、耐食性に優れた均一で微細な磁性粒子、及びかかる磁性粒子を安価に製造する方法を提供することである。   An object of the present invention is to provide uniform and fine magnetic particles having excellent corrosion resistance and a method for producing such magnetic particles at low cost.

The method for producing magnetic particles of the present invention includes a powder containing Ti (excluding a Ti oxide powder) and an oxide of metal M satisfying the relationship of ΔG M−O > ΔG TiO 2 with a standard free energy of formation of the oxide. The obtained mixed powder is heat-treated at a temperature of 650 to 1100 ° C. in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, whereby the metal M oxide is reduced with Ti, and the obtained metal M fine particles are obtained. The surface of is coated with Ti oxide. The M is preferably at least one element selected from Fe, Co, and Ni. Further, alumina powder may be further added to the mixed powder. The alumina powder is preferably added after the mixing and before the heat treatment, rather than simultaneously with the mixing.

More specifically, in the method for producing magnetic particles of the present invention, metal fine particles having a particle size of 0.05 to 0.3 μm are disposed around alumina particles (the metal fine particles are at least one element selected from Fe, Co, and Ni). In which the average particle diameter is 0.5 to 5 μm,
Mixing an oxide powder of at least one of Fe, Co, and Ni with a non-oxide powder containing Ti, and further adding 20 to 85 mass% of the total amount of alumina powder to form a mixed powder,
The mixed powder is heat-treated at a temperature of 650 to 1100 ° C. in a non-oxidizing atmosphere.

上記本発明の製造方法は、前記酸化物粉末をTiにより還元することによって金属微粒子を形成し、当該金属微粒子は原料粉末に添加したアルミナ粒子の表面に担持される。ここで、mass%は質量百分率であり、熱処理前の前記混合粉末の全体量を100mass%とする。   In the production method of the present invention, metal fine particles are formed by reducing the oxide powder with Ti, and the metal fine particles are supported on the surface of alumina particles added to the raw material powder. Here, mass% is a mass percentage, and the total amount of the mixed powder before the heat treatment is 100 mass%.

本発明の磁性粒子は、アルミナ粒子の周囲に粒径0.05〜0.3μmの金属微粒子(前記金属微粒子は、Fe、Co、Niから選ばれる少なくとも1つの元素を主成分とする。)が担持されていて、平均粒径が0.5〜5μmであることを特徴とする。   The magnetic particles of the present invention are metal fine particles having a particle size of 0.05 to 0.3 μm around the alumina particles (the metal fine particles are mainly composed of at least one element selected from Fe, Co, and Ni). It is supported and has an average particle size of 0.5 to 5 μm.

また、前記磁性粒子は、前記金属微粒子の平均粒径をDc、前記金属微粒子の粒径の標準偏差をσとした時、σ/Dcが0.4未満であることを特徴とする。前記金属微粒子はアルミナ粒子の添加によって焼結粒成長が抑制されているため、比較的均一な粒径を備える。また、前記磁性粒子において、前記金属微粒子が3個以上担持されていることを特徴とする。これにより、磁性粒子1粒子当たりの飽和磁化が実用的な水準に維持される。   The magnetic particles are characterized in that σ / Dc is less than 0.4, where Dc is the average particle size of the metal fine particles and σ is the standard deviation of the particle size of the metal fine particles. The metal fine particles have a relatively uniform particle size because the growth of sintered particles is suppressed by the addition of alumina particles. Further, the magnetic particles are characterized in that three or more metal fine particles are supported. Thereby, the saturation magnetization per magnetic particle is maintained at a practical level.

前記磁性粒子は、濃度6Mのグアニジウム塩酸塩水溶液中に24時間浸漬させた後(前記水溶液1mLあたり前記磁性粒子25mgの割合)、前記水溶液中への金属イオンの溶出量が10mg/L未満であることを特徴とする。金属微粒子は熱処理の過程で生成したTi酸化物により被覆されているため、水溶液中の環境下においても金属イオンの溶出量が極めて少なく、耐食性に優れる。   The magnetic particles are immersed in an aqueous guanidinium hydrochloride solution having a concentration of 6M for 24 hours (ratio of 25 mg of the magnetic particles per 1 mL of the aqueous solution), and the amount of metal ions eluted into the aqueous solution is less than 10 mg / L. It is characterized by that. Since the metal fine particles are coated with the Ti oxide generated during the heat treatment, the amount of metal ions eluted is extremely small even in an environment in an aqueous solution, and the corrosion resistance is excellent.

アルミナは化学的に安定であるため熱処理工程においても安定であり、原料粉末に添加したアルミナ粒子は金属微粒子間に介在することによって金属微粒子同士の物理的接触を抑制する。その結果、金属微粒子の焼結粒成長が抑制され、微細で均一な粒子が得られる。更に前記金属微粒子はアルミナ粒子の表面にほどよく分散して担持されることにより、金属微粒子同士が直接的に接触することがなく、電気的な絶縁性や磁気孤立性が保たれる。   Since alumina is chemically stable, it is also stable in the heat treatment step, and the alumina particles added to the raw material powder are interposed between the metal fine particles, thereby suppressing physical contact between the metal fine particles. As a result, the growth of sintered particles of metal fine particles is suppressed, and fine and uniform particles can be obtained. Furthermore, since the metal fine particles are dispersed and supported on the surface of the alumina particles, the metal fine particles are not in direct contact with each other, and electrical insulation and magnetic isolation are maintained.

本発明によれば、耐食性に優れ、且つ粒径分布が均一で微細な磁性粒子及びその製造方法を得ることが出来る。   According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain fine magnetic particles excellent in corrosion resistance and having a uniform particle size distribution and a method for producing the same.

[1] Raw material powder The particle size of the oxide powder of Fe, Co, or Ni can be selected according to the target particle size of the metal fine particles, but is preferably in the range of 0.001 to 5 μm. When the particle size is less than 0.001 μm, not only the “bulk” of the oxide powder is increased, but also the secondary aggregation is severe, so that it is difficult to handle in the following production process. If it exceeds 5 μm, the specific surface area of the oxide powder is too small and the reduction reaction does not proceed easily. The practical particle size of the oxide powder is 0.005 to 1 μm.

Fe、Co、Niのいずれかの酸化物としてはFe、Fe、CoO、Co、NiO等が挙げられるがこれに限定されるものではない。特にFeは飽和磁化が高いため好ましく、酸化物としてはFeが安価である点で好ましい。 Examples of the oxide of Fe, Co, and Ni include, but are not limited to, Fe 2 O 3 , Fe 3 O 4 , CoO, Co 3 O 4 , and NiO. In particular, Fe is preferable because of its high saturation magnetization, and Fe 2 O 3 is preferable as an oxide because it is inexpensive.

Tiを含む非酸化物粉末の粒径は0.01〜20μmであることが好ましい。0.01μm未満の粒径であると、大気中でTiを含む非酸化物粉末が酸化し易いので、ハンドリングが難しい。また20μm超であると比表面積が小さく、以下の工程で前記Fe、Co、Niのいずれかの酸化物粉末を十分に還元することが困難となる。特に0.1〜5μmの粒径であれば、大気中での酸化を抑制しつつ、還元反応の十分な進行を図ることができる。   The particle size of the non-oxide powder containing Ti is preferably 0.01 to 20 μm. When the particle diameter is less than 0.01 μm, the non-oxide powder containing Ti is easily oxidized in the atmosphere, so that handling is difficult. If it exceeds 20 μm, the specific surface area is small, and it becomes difficult to sufficiently reduce any one of the oxide powders of Fe, Co, and Ni in the following steps. In particular, when the particle diameter is 0.1 to 5 μm, the reduction reaction can proceed sufficiently while suppressing oxidation in the air.

Tiを含む非酸化物粉末としては、Ti単体の粉末の他、Ti−X(ただしXは、標準酸化物生成自由エネルギーΔGX−OがTiOの生成標準自由エネルギーΔGTiO2より大きい元素である。) The non-oxide powder containing Ti, other Ti alone of the powder, Ti-X (wherein X is a standard oxide formation free energy .DELTA.G X-O is a product standard free energy .DELTA.G TiO2 greater element of TiO 2 .) Is a powder of a Ti compound or a mixture thereof. Specifically, X is Ag, Au, B, Bi, C, Cu, Cs, Cd, Ge, Ga, Hg, K, N, Na, Pd, Pt, Rb, Rh, S, Sn, Tl, Te. And at least one selected from the group consisting of Zn. Since Ti oxide does not function as a reducing agent, it is removed from the non-oxide powder containing Ti. In the case of the element X satisfying ΔG X−O <ΔG TiO 2 , the element X acts as a reducing agent, so that no Ti oxide is generated. The content of X is not particularly limited as long as Ti is sufficient to reduce any oxide of Fe, Co, and Ni. As Ti—X, TiC is preferable because a phase other than the Ti oxide is hardly formed after the reduction reaction.

アルミナ粉末の粒径は0.005〜5μmが好ましい。0.005μm未満の粒径であると、微粒子であることから熱処理工程における試料粉末同士の物理的接触を妨害し難くなる。また5μm以上であると試料粉末の粒径と同等であり、粒子間に介在して焼結粒成長を防止する機能が低下する。より好ましくは0.01〜3μmである。   The particle size of the alumina powder is preferably 0.005 to 5 μm. When the particle diameter is less than 0.005 μm, it is difficult to obstruct physical contact between the sample powders in the heat treatment step because they are fine particles. Moreover, when it is 5 μm or more, it is equivalent to the particle size of the sample powder, and the function of interposing the particles to prevent the growth of sintered grains is reduced. More preferably, it is 0.01-3 micrometers.

[2]製造方法
本発明の製造方法は、少なくとも2種類の粉末(前記酸化物粉末、Ti含有粉末)の混合粉末を熱処理することを特徴とする。前記熱処理において、酸化物の標準生成自由エネルギーΔGM−OがTiOの標準生成自由エネルギーΔGTiO2より大きい金属Mの酸化物粉末を用いることにより、金属Mの酸化物粉末がTiにより還元されると同時に、Ti酸化物の被覆が形成される。
[2] Manufacturing method The manufacturing method of the present invention is characterized by heat-treating a mixed powder of at least two kinds of powders (the oxide powder and Ti-containing powder). In the heat treatment, standard free energy .DELTA.G M-O oxides by using an oxide powder of standard free energy .DELTA.G TiO2 greater metal M TiO 2, oxide powder is reduced by Ti metal M At the same time, a Ti oxide coating is formed.

More preferably, the production method of the present invention is characterized in that a mixed powder of three kinds of powders (the oxide powder, Ti-containing powder, and alumina powder) is heat-treated. More specifically, the manufacturing method of the present invention includes an oxide powder of metal M (M is at least one element selected from Fe, Co, and Ni), a non-oxide powder containing Ti, By mixing the alumina powder and heat-treating the obtained mixed powder in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, the metal M oxide is reduced with Ti, and the surface of the obtained metal M fine particles is formed with Ti oxide. The coated fine metal particles are supported on alumina particles. In these production methods of the present invention, the generation of the metal fine particles and the formation of the coating are performed in the same process at a low temperature, so that not only the oxidation of the coated metal fine particles can be prevented but also extremely simple and highly productive.

The ratio of the Ti-containing powder to the oxide powder is preferably at least the stoichiometric ratio of the reduction reaction. In order to obtain coated metal fine particles having a low coercive force and high dispersibility, the ratio of the powder containing Ti to the total of the metal M oxide powder and the powder containing Ti is preferably 20 to 50 mass%. When Ti is insufficient, the oxide powder is sintered and bulked during the heat treatment. For example, in the case of a combination of Fe 2 O 3 and TiC, although TiC against Fe 2 O 3 + TiC is at least 25 mass% preferred. When TiC is less than 25 mass%, the reduction of Fe 2 O 3 by TiC is insufficient. On the other hand, when the ratio of TiC becomes too high, the ratio of Fe decreases and the saturation magnetization of the obtained magnetic particles decreases. Therefore, the upper limit of TiC is preferably 50 mass%. The ratio of TiC to Fe 2 O 3 + TiC is more preferably 30 to 50 mass%, most preferably 30 to 40 mass%, and particularly preferably 30 to 35 mass%.

In the present invention, alumina powder is added to the mixed powder. This addition can suppress the growth of sintered grains between the particles. It is preferable that the alumina powder ratio in the total mixed powder obtained by combining the mixed powder and the alumina powder is 20 to 90 mass%. If the amount is less than 20 mass%, the amount of addition is small, so the effect of suppressing the growth of sintered grains cannot be obtained. Moreover, since there are very few magnetic components as it is 90 mass% or more, the saturation magnetization of the magnetic particle obtained will fall. Only magnetic particles can be recovered by magnetic separation using a permanent magnet after the heat treatment, but the recovery efficiency deteriorates when the saturation magnetization decreases.

前記酸化物粉末とTi含有粉末、及びアルミナ粉末との混合には乳鉢、スターラ、V字型ミキサ、ボールミル、ビーズミル、振動ミル等の攪拌機を用いる。   For mixing the oxide powder, Ti-containing powder, and alumina powder, a stirrer such as a mortar, stirrer, V-shaped mixer, ball mill, bead mill, or vibration mill is used.

When a mixed powder of the oxide powder, Ti-containing powder, and alumina powder is heat-treated in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, a reduction reaction of the oxide powder and Ti-containing powder occurs as a solid-phase reaction, which is coated with Ti oxide. Metal fine particles composed of any one of Fe, Co, and Ni thus produced are generated. The fine metal particles are supported on the alumina particles by a slight sintering reaction with the alumina particles during the heat treatment. “Supported” as used herein represents a state in which metal fine particles are bonded to alumina particles with a certain degree of strength, and is different from mere physical adsorption. The heat treatment atmosphere is preferably non-oxidizing. Examples of the non-oxidizing atmosphere include, but are not limited to, inert gases such as Ar and He, N 2 , CO 2 , and NH 3 . The heat treatment temperature is preferably 650 to 1100 ° C. If the temperature is lower than 650 ° C., the reduction reaction does not proceed sufficiently, and if it exceeds 1100 ° C., the alumina particles may sinter and cause grain growth, and the magnetic particles become coarse.

Furthermore, when the upper limit is set to 900 ° C. or lower, it is more preferable because Ti n O 2n-1 having a non - stoichiometric composition is hardly generated. Ti n O 2n-1 is generated when the metal M takes in oxygen from TiO 2 or releases TiO 2 into a non-oxidizing atmosphere at over 900 ° C. As a result, the reduction of the metal M is insufficient or the coating layer is incomplete. When the heat treatment temperature is 700 to 900 ° C., a coating composed of almost TiO 2 with few defects and high uniformity is formed. This coating is suitable for producing coated metal fine particles for a photocatalyst.

[3]粒子構造
上記方法により得られる磁性粒子の平均粒径は0.1〜5μmが好ましく、より好ましくは0.5〜5μmとする。平均粒径が0.1μm未満であると後述する金属微粒子の担持数が極端に少なくなり、1粒子当たりの飽和磁化が低下する。平均粒径が5μmを越えると例えば溶液中で沈降し易くなり、分散性が低下する。ここで平均粒径はレーザー回折法による湿式粒径測定器で測定したD50(メジアン径)である。
[3] Particle structure The average particle diameter of the magnetic particles obtained by the above method is preferably 0.1 to 5 µm, more preferably 0.5 to 5 µm. When the average particle size is less than 0.1 μm, the number of metal fine particles to be described later is extremely reduced, and the saturation magnetization per particle is lowered. When the average particle size exceeds 5 μm, for example, it tends to settle in the solution and the dispersibility is lowered. Here, the average particle diameter is D50 (median diameter) measured by a wet particle size measuring instrument using a laser diffraction method.

The particle diameter of the metal fine particles mainly depends on the particle diameter of the oxide powder, but also depends on the particle diameter of the alumina powder. The particle diameter of the metal fine particles is preferably 0.05 to 0.3 μm. When the particle size is less than 0.05 μm, the coercive force is increased and the soft magnetic properties are deteriorated. When the particle diameter exceeds 0.3 μm, not only the specific surface area is reduced but also eddy currents are easily generated, and eddy current loss in the high frequency band is increased. In order to show good soft magnetic characteristics with low hysteresis loss, it is preferable that the particle diameter is uniform. When the average particle diameter of the metal fine particles is Dc and the standard deviation of the particle diameter of the metal fine particles is σ, σ / Dc is Preferably it is less than 0.4. When it is 0.4 or more, the particle size distribution is widened and the coercive force of individual particles varies, resulting in hysteresis loss. Here, the particle diameter d of the metal fine particles is obtained by measuring the maximum diameter and the minimum diameter of each metal fine particle in an SEM photograph (reflection electron image), and obtaining the particle diameter dn of each metal fine particle by (maximum diameter + minimum diameter) / 2. , Defined as an average value obtained by dividing the total particle diameter Σdn of all metal fine particles in the field of view of the SEM photograph (excluding metal fine particles that cannot be distinguished) by the number n of all metal fine particles. The particle size d of the M metal fine particles has a relatively small variation. The average particle diameter and the standard deviation of the particle diameter are calculated by measuring the particle diameter of 30 or more particles.

The M metal fine particles and the Ti oxide coating layer need not have a one-to-one core-shell structure, and may have a structure in which two or more M metal fine particles are dispersed in the Ti oxide layer. It is preferable that two or more M metal fine particles are contained in the Ti oxide because the metal M has a high content and is reliably coated. For example, it is preferable that two or more Fe fine particles having a particle diameter d of 1 μm or less are embedded in the Ti oxide layer. In the case where two or more metal M fine particles are included in the Ti oxide particles, the ratio d / D50 of each fine particle is preferably 0.5 or less. With this configuration, the thickness of the coating is ensured and the corrosion resistance is improved.

The thickness of the Ti oxide coating is preferably 1 to 10,000 nm. When the thickness is less than 1 nm, the coated metal fine particles do not have sufficient corrosion resistance. If the thickness exceeds 10,000 nm, the coated metal fine particles are too large and the dispersibility in the liquid is low, and in the case of magnetic metal fine particles, the saturation magnetization is low. A more preferred thickness of the Ti oxide coating is 5 to 5000 nm. The thickness of the coating is determined by a transmission electron microscope (TEM photograph) of the coated metal fine particles. When the thickness of the Ti oxide coating is not uniform, the average of the maximum thickness and the minimum thickness is taken as the thickness of the Ti oxide coating.

当該磁性粒子はアルミナ粒子の表面にFe、Co、Niのいずれかで構成される金属微粒子が担持された構造であるとよい。高耐食性を維持するためには前記金属微粒子はTi酸化物で被覆されていることが好ましいが、部分的にアルミナによって金属部分が被覆されていても構わない。当該磁性粒子が実用的な磁化を発現するためには、前記金属微粒子がアルミナ粒子に3個以上担持されていることが好ましい。   The magnetic particles may have a structure in which fine metal particles composed of any one of Fe, Co, and Ni are supported on the surface of alumina particles. In order to maintain high corrosion resistance, the metal fine particles are preferably coated with Ti oxide, but the metal portion may be partially coated with alumina. In order for the magnetic particles to exhibit practical magnetization, it is preferable that three or more metal fine particles are supported on alumina particles.

The coated metal fine particles according to the present invention are obtained by coating fine particles of metal M (M is at least one element selected from Fe, Co, and Ni) with a Ti oxide, and coating the fine particles of metal M with alumina. The half-width of the maximum peak of the Ti oxide is 0.3 ° or less in the X-ray diffraction pattern of the coated fine metal particles, and the maximum peak of the Ti oxide with respect to the maximum peak of the metal M is The intensity ratio is 0.03 or more. The maximum peak intensity ratio is preferably 0.05 or more. The Ti oxide coating layer is highly crystalline, and can sufficiently protect the metal fine particles serving as the core.

It is preferable that the coated metal fine particles are further immersed in an aqueous alkaline solution and then dried. This alkali treatment improves the corrosion resistance of the coated metal fine particles. The alkali source used for the alkali treatment may be any compound that exhibits alkalinity when made into an aqueous solution, and examples thereof include alkaline surfactants in addition to NaOH and KOH. The alkali treatment can be performed, for example, by immersing the coated metal fine particles in an alkali source-containing aqueous solution using a ball mill or the like and stirring.

In order to obtain magnetic metal fine particles having excellent corrosion resistance, the metal M needs to be a magnetic metal, and particularly high saturation magnetization Fe is preferable. By using a magnetic metal as a nucleus, it can be easily used in a magnetic separation process, and the coated metal fine particles themselves can be purified and used for magnetic beads. It is particularly suitable for biochemical and medical uses such as magnetic beads for nucleic acid extraction. The coated metal fine particles preferably have a saturation magnetization of 50 to 180 A · m 2 / kg. Thereby, it is possible to obtain coated metal fine particles excellent in both corrosion resistance and magnetic properties in which the amounts of the coating layer and the magnetic layer are balanced. The saturation magnetization of the coated metal fine particles is more preferably 95 to 180 A · m 2 / kg. The range of 95 to 180 A · m 2 / kg is a range that cannot be obtained with an oxide magnetic material such as magnetite, and exhibits excellent magnetic separation performance.

前記被覆金属微粒子は8kA/m以下の保磁力を有するのが好ましい。これにより、残留磁化が極めて小さくなり、磁気凝集が極めて少ない分散性に優れた被覆金属微粒子とすることができる。より好ましい保磁力は4kA/m以下である。   The coated metal fine particles preferably have a coercive force of 8 kA / m or less. Thereby, the remanent magnetization becomes extremely small, and the coated metal fine particles having excellent dispersibility with very little magnetic aggregation can be obtained. A more preferable coercive force is 4 kA / m or less.

In the present invention, formation of M metal fine particles by reduction of M oxide and formation of Ti oxide coating are performed simultaneously, so that no M metal oxide layer is observed between the M metal fine particles and the Ti oxide coating. . The Ti oxide coating obtained by heat treatment at 650 ° C. or higher has high crystallinity and higher corrosion resistance than the amorphous or low crystalline Ti oxide coating obtained by a sol-gel method or the like. Further, the coated metal fine particles of the present invention having a Ti oxide coating show fewer corrosion defects, and thus exhibit higher corrosion resistance than those having a coating of Ti n O 2n-1 having a non - stoichiometric composition.

被覆金属微粒子のX線回折パターンにおけるTi酸化物の最大ピークの半値幅が0.25°以下で、金属Mの最大ピークに対するTi酸化物の最大ピークの強度比が0.02以上である場合に、Ti酸化物の結晶性が良い(従って、被覆金属微粒子の耐食性も良い。)と判断した。非晶質又は低結晶性の場合、ピークは観察されないかブロードであるため、最大ピーク強度比は小さく、半値幅は広い。   When the half width of the maximum peak of the Ti oxide in the X-ray diffraction pattern of the coated metal fine particles is 0.25 ° or less and the intensity ratio of the maximum peak of the Ti oxide to the maximum peak of the metal M is 0.02 or more. It was judged that the crystallinity of the Ti oxide was good (therefore, the corrosion resistance of the coated metal fine particles was also good). In the case of amorphous or low crystallinity, since the peak is not observed or is broad, the maximum peak intensity ratio is small and the half width is wide.

When the metal M is a magnetic metal Fe, the coated metal fine particles obtained by the above production method have a saturation magnetization in the range of 50 to 180 A · m 2 / kg and function as magnetic particles. This corresponds to the ratio of Ti to Fe + Ti being 11 to 67 mass% when the coated metal fine particles are formed of magnetic metal Fe and TiO 2 . The ratio of Ti can be calculated from the measured value of saturation magnetization of the coated metal fine particles after confirming that the coated metal fine particles are composed of Fe and TiO 2 from the X-ray diffraction pattern. When the saturation magnetization of the magnetic particles is as small as less than 50 A · m 2 / kg, the response to the magnetic field is dull. Further, if it exceeds 180 A · m 2 / kg, the content of Ti oxide mainly composed of TiO 2 is small (the mass ratio of Ti to Fe + Ti is less than 11%), and metal Fe particles are sufficiently Ti oxide. Since it cannot be coated with, the corrosion resistance is low and the magnetic properties are likely to deteriorate. Therefore, in order to obtain high saturation magnetization and sufficient corrosion resistance at the same time, the saturation magnetization of the coated metal fine particles is preferably 180 A · m 2 / kg or less. The saturation magnetization of the coated metal fine particles is more preferably 95 to 180 A · m 2 / kg for excellent recovery efficiency and magnetic separation performance when used for magnetic beads and the like. Saturation magnetization in this range cannot be obtained with magnetite (Fe 3 O 4 ) having only saturation magnetization of about 92 A · m 2 / kg.

分散性の観点から、被覆金属微粒子の保磁力は15kA/m以下が好ましく、8kA/m(100Oe)以下がより好ましく、4kA/m以下が最も好ましい。保磁力が大きい場合でもTiO被覆を厚くすれば高分散性が得られるが、そうすると被覆金属微粒子の飽和磁化が低下してしまう。保磁力が8kA/mを超えると、磁性粒子は無磁界でも磁気的に凝集するので、液中での分散性が低下する。 From the viewpoint of dispersibility, the coercive force of the coated metal fine particles is preferably 15 kA / m or less, more preferably 8 kA / m (100 Oe) or less, and most preferably 4 kA / m or less. Even if the coercive force is large, if the TiO 2 coating is thickened, high dispersibility can be obtained. When the coercive force exceeds 8 kA / m, the magnetic particles aggregate magnetically even in the absence of a magnetic field, so that the dispersibility in the liquid is lowered.

ここでFeイオン溶出量はICP(高周波誘導結合プラズマ)分析により行う。
[4] Corrosion resistance Since the metal fine particles are coated with either Ti oxide or alumina, the magnetic particles of the present invention have high corrosion resistance. For example, when the metal fine particles are metal Fe particles coated with Ti oxide, Fe ion elution amount when 25 mg of the magnetic particles are immersed in 1 mL of guanidine hydrochloride aqueous solution having a molar concentration of 6 M for 24 hours. Is preferably 50 mg / L or less. When the Fe ion elution amount exceeds 50 mg / L, the coating is incomplete and oxidatively deteriorates. More preferably, it is less than 10 mg / L. Thereby, it has corrosion resistance equivalent to iron oxide. Here, the elution amount of Fe ions is determined by ICP (high frequency inductively coupled plasma) analysis.

以下、本発明についてさらに具体的な実施例を用いて説明する。ただし、これら実施例により本発明が必ずしも限定されるものではない。   Hereinafter, the present invention will be described using more specific examples. However, the present invention is not necessarily limited by these examples.

(Example 1)
After weighing 70 g of α-Fe 2 O 3 powder having an average particle size of 0.03 μm and 30 g of TiC powder having an average particle size of 1 μm, 30 g of alumina powder having an average particle size of 1 μm was added and mixed for 10 hours by a ball mill. At this time, the ratio of the alumina powder was 23.1% by mass as shown in Table 1. The obtained mixed powder was heat-treated at 1000 ° C. for 2 hours in a nitrogen gas atmosphere and cooled to room temperature. The heat-treated sample powder was pulverized in a mortar and then dispersed in IPA (isopropyl alcohol) to recover only the magnetic particles by magnetic separation. The average particle size of the sample powder was measured with a laser diffraction particle size distribution analyzer (HORIBA: LA-920). The magnetic characteristics were measured with a VSM (vibration magnetometer) with a maximum applied magnetic field of 1.6 MA / m. Further, the amount of Fe ions eluted after immersing 25 mg of each sample powder in 1 mL of 6 M guanidine hydrochloride aqueous solution at 25 ° C. for 24 hours was measured by ICP analysis (SII Nanotechnology Inc .: SPS3100H). The results are shown in Table 1.

(実施例2〜4)
アルミナ粉末の添加量を表1に示す質量とした以外は実施例1と同様にして磁性粒子を作製し、平均粒径、磁気特性及びFeイオン溶出量を評価した。結果を表1に示す。耐食性に優れた磁性粒子を得たことがわかる。
(Examples 2 to 4)
Magnetic particles were prepared in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the addition amount of alumina powder was changed to the mass shown in Table 1, and the average particle size, magnetic characteristics, and Fe ion elution amount were evaluated. The results are shown in Table 1. It can be seen that magnetic particles having excellent corrosion resistance were obtained.

(参考例1及び2、比較例1)
同様にアルミナ粉末の添加量を変えて磁性粒子を作製した。結果を表1に示す。耐食性が低いことがわかる。
(Reference Examples 1 and 2, Comparative Example 1)
Similarly, magnetic particles were prepared by changing the amount of alumina powder added. The results are shown in Table 1. It can be seen that the corrosion resistance is low.

(実施例5)
ボールミル混合時間を1.5時間とした以外は実施例1と同様に試料を作製し、D50を測定したところ、5.0μmであった。
(Example 5)
A sample was prepared in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the ball mill mixing time was 1.5 hours, and the D50 was measured and found to be 5.0 μm.

(実施例6)
ボールミル混合時間を50時間とした以外は実施例4と同様に試料を作製し、D50を測定したところ、0.5μmであった。
(Example 6)
A sample was prepared in the same manner as in Example 4 except that the ball mill mixing time was 50 hours, and the D50 was measured and found to be 0.5 μm.

Moreover, the sample powder of Example 3 was observed with a transmission electron microscope (TEM). The photograph (TEM image) in FIG. 1 shows a typical TEM image. FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram for explaining FIG. It can be seen that fine Fe particles are supported on alumina particles. In this TEM image, seven Fe particles were observed. Table 2 shows the average particle diameter (Dc) and the standard deviation (σ) of the Fe particles measured from the TEM image. Dc is as small as 0.12 μm, which corresponds to one-tenth of the average particle size (1.2 μm) of the sample powder. This value is about one fifth of Dc of Comparative Example 1, and it can be seen that the addition of alumina powder suppresses the grain growth of Fe particles. Further, the standard deviation (σ) representing the variation in the particle diameter of the Fe particles and the ratio of Dc (σ / Dc) are as small as less than 0.4 in the examples, indicating that the particle diameter of the Fe particles is uniform. For Example 3 and Comparative Example 1, Table 2 shows the average particle diameter (D50) of the sample powder, the average particle diameter (Dc) of the Fe particles, and the standard deviation (σ).

FIG. 3 is a photograph obtained by observing, with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), a state where the magnetic particles of Example 3 are still aggregated. It can be seen that the irregular-shaped magnetic particles are mainly composed of alumina (Al 2 O 3 ) particles 4 and carry many white particles 5 in which Fe particles are coated with titanium oxide (TiO 2 ). The composition of each part was determined by measuring with EDX attached to the SEM. Next, a surfactant was added to the added aqueous solution to break up the aggregation. Of these, 30 magnetic particles were observed, and it was confirmed that even the magnetic particles with the smallest number of Fe particles contained 3 magnetic particles. did.

FIG. 5 is an X-ray diffraction pattern measured for the magnetic particles of Example 3. The horizontal axis in FIG. 5 represents 2θ (°) of diffraction, and the vertical axis represents diffraction intensity (relative value). As a result of analysis using analysis software “Jade, Ver. 5” manufactured by MDI, each peak was identified as α-Fe, Ti 4 O 7 , and Al 2 O 3 . Maximum intensity peak of Ti 4 O 7 is found at 2θ = 26.5 ° (the Ti 4 O 7 (020) corresponding to reflection), the FWHM was 0.18. The maximum intensity peak of Fe appears at 2θ = 44.7 ° (corresponding to (110) reflection of α-Fe), and the intensity ratio I Ti-O / I Fe with the peak of Ti 4 O 7 is 0.03.

同様に実施例1、2、4及び比較例1についてもX線回折パターンを測定し、Ti酸化物の半値幅とITi−O/IFeを評価した。結果を表3に示す。実施例の半値幅は0.25よりも小さく、Ti酸化物の結晶性が高いことを表している。 Similarly, X-ray diffraction patterns were also measured for Examples 1, 2, 4 and Comparative Example 1, and the half width of Ti oxide and I Ti—O / I Fe were evaluated.
