車両に搭載されて、一次衝突時の歩行者を保護可能とし、さらに、一次衝突後の歩行者の路面側への落下を防止可能な歩行者保護装置であって、
前記車両の前面側におけるフロントバンパ付近からフードパネルの高さを越える上方まで展開膨張して、前記車両の幅寸法と略等しい幅寸法を有して、膨張を完了させるエアバッグを備え、
該エアバッグが、膨張完了時に前後方向に貫通して、前記歩行者の身体部位を係止可能な複数の係止孔を備えて、構成されていることを特徴とする歩行者保護装置。
