984,219. Heat insulating container. SHIHWOO LOU. Jan. 29, 1962, No. 3303/62. Heading F4U. [Also in Division B8] A thermally-insulated container comprises an open-ended outer shell 12 and an openended inner shell 21, the space between the shells defining a thermal insulating space, an annular member 15 secured in the open end of the outer shell and providing a shoulder 20 whereon flange 23 of inner shell 21 rests, the inner shell having an annular top rim 24, and a closure member 28 which slidably fits into the open end of shell 21, the closure member having a depending peripheral lip 31 engageable over the rim of the inner shell to lock therewith. As shown, the member 15 engages the outer shell 12 at its upper end 14. Member 15 has an upstanding threaded portion 16 which engages a clamping ring 27 which bears on flange 23 of inner shell 21. Portion 16 also engages a cap 35 which fits over closure member 28. The annular top rim 24 is formed with an outer groove 26 which engages lip 31 on the closure member 28. The closure member has an annular projecting rib 39 at its bottom end whereby auxillary containers may be engaged (Fig. 2, not shown). In a modification, top rim 24 may be externally threaded to receive cap 35. The space between the shells is filled with foamed polystyrene or polyurethane.
