[Also in Division G3] In apparatus for heat-treating continuouslymoving strip material 11 by blowing jets of heated compressible fluid on to it, the heater 18 for the fluid is controlled in response to the temperature at a detector (thermocouple) situated where it is impinged by the same mixture of fresh and entrained spent fluid as reaches the strip. The fluid is circulated by a blower 17 and emerges from ported pipes 16 ...35 transverse to the strip. One pair of pipes, 28, is elongated (Fig. 2, not shown) to cover the temperature detector. As shown, the temperature signal is amplified at 37 and compared with a reference at 38, any error operating a fuel flow valve 39, but it is stated that electric heaters could be used.
