Abstract

958,296. Hydraulic shock absorbers. ARMSTRONG PATENTS CO. Ltd. Oct. 2, 1962 [Nov. 1, 1961], No. 39101/61. Heading F2S. A lever type shock absorber 10 for vehicles comprises a pair of hydraulic cylinders 14 each receiving a piston 16, the cylinder communicating at one end with the hollow interior of the housing which acts as a main reservoir 12 and at the other end being connected through a fluid flow restricting means. A rockable shaft 22 is connected to the pistons 16. An auxiliary reservoir 24 is isolated from the main reservoir by a wall 26 or baffle having a relatively small passage 28 therethrough, the auxiliary reservoir being of restricted cross sectional area with respect to that of the main reservoir. In the construction shown two passages 28 are provided between the reservoir.
