Abstract
953,396. Gantries for lifting tackle. MACDONALD & CO. (HAYDOCK) Ltd. April 10, 1962 [May 23, 1961], No. 18524/61. Heading B8B. A gantry 10, Fig. 1, comprises two spaced parallel rails 11 along which runs a trolley 21 a portion 22 of which hangs down between the rails. The portion 22 is a clearance fit in the slot and is guided thereby. The rails are preferably of hollow rectangular box section but may be I-shaped. Instead of being supported by detachable wheeled frames 13 and struts 16, rails 30, Fig. 4, may be supported by supports 31 from the roof of a building. Alternatively the rails may be supported at their ends by the walls of a building.
