Abstract

927,579. Ventilating vehicles. WEBASTOWERK G.m.b.H. Feb. 22, 1962 [March 17, 1961], No. 6992/62. Class 137. [Also in Group XIII] Heating equipment for vehicles with watercooled engines, comprises a heat-exchanger 8 forming part of the water-cooling system and consisting of a system of water passages 13 extending between two headers 10 and 11, and a liquid-fuel fired tubular combustion chamber extending at least partly through one of the headers. As shown, the tubular combustion chamber 17 is accommodated in the header 11 and may pass diagonally therethrough while at the end 18 of said chamber 17 is mounted a burner to which fuel and combustion-air are supplied via pipe 19 by a displacement blower 20. The blower 20 is driven by an electric motor 21 which also drives a fuel supply pump 22. Air is blown against tubes 13 either by the head wind created by the vehicle or from a fan 15. This air is heated and escapes through outlet 16 into the vehicle interior. Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) indicate modifications to the heat-exchanger whereby the combustion chamber may be arcuate, or may be disposed in a pipe connecting the two headers and passing through them.
