Abstract
906,407. Filter networks. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and DRYBROUGH, D. A. S. Nov. 6, 1959 [Nov. 6, 1958], No. 35677/58. Class 40 (8). A filter network whose input is derived from between two points on a first inductance, includes a second inductance coupled to the first inductance in such a manner that the voltage induced by the coupling is 180 degrees out of phase with the voltage which would otherwise appear across the second inductance. The circuit shown is a push-pull audio amplifier for an A.M. transmitter, the anodes of valves 2 and 1 being respectively connected to one end of the primary winding 9 of an output transformer and to a tapping-point on the winding. The other end of the winding 9 is connected to an inductor 11 constituted by a winding on the same core as winding 9. This is combined with capacitors 12, 13 to form a low-pass filter network. The anode power supply for the power amplification stages is fed from a constant voltage source 10 through winding 11 to the output terminal of the filter. The current supplied to the power amplifier thus varies with the filtered signal frequency so that the output of the transmitter is amplitude-modulated.
