Abstract

905,116. Forage harvesters. HARRISON, McGREGOR & GUEST Ltd. Feb. 20, 1961 [Dec. 5, 1959], No. 41385/59. Class 6(3). [Also in Group XXX] A combined harvesting and loading appliance, intended primarily for the zero-grazing system where the fodder is taken direct to the livestock, comprises a load-carrying body 10 with an endless floor 14 for moving the crop towards one end of the body, a laterally-extending conveyer being located at the rear end of the body and comprising two sections 32, 39 one of which is angularly adjustable with respect to the other to vary the discharge-height of the crop. The machine is combined with a forage-harvester comprising a flail-rotor 19, 20 revolving in a housing having two shoots 25, 26 one extending vertically to deliver cut crop into the body 10 through an opening above its rear wall 13 and the other extending horizontally to deliver rearwardly, the shoots being selectively blanked off by sliding plates 28 concentric with the rotor. The harvesterunit is mounted on arms 21 pivoted to the body 10 and is supported at the rear by verticallyadjustable casters 23. The adjustable part 39 of the lateral conveyer is supported by a guyrope 45 attached to the body. Within the body at the rear is a series of tined rotors 18. For loading, the crop is cut by the flails 20 and fed into the body through the shoot 25. For discharge into feeding troughs, the three conveyers 14, 32, 39 are operated, together with the tined shafts 18, but not the harvesterrotor 19, 20.
