Abstract
839,532. Fish traps. HURTIG, I. May 5, 1958, No. 14373/58. Class 48. A net cage for catching crawfish comprises netting 2 extending over a helical compression spring 1, the netting having funnel-shaped ends which are connected to each other by straps 8 held taut by the spring. A door to facilitate removal of the crawfish is formed in one of the funnel ends of the netting by cutting the netting and attaching one cut edge to the end loop of the spring and the other cut edge to an arcuate member 10 rotatably mounted on a hinge bar 11 secured to the spring. The door is held closed by a hook 12. The straps 8 are secured to rings 6 at the ends of the funnels and are knotted together at their centres. The bait is held on a safety pin having a clasp at one end for engagement with an eye 15 on a support 13 secured to the spring and extending across the centre of the cage; the other end of the safety pin is hooked on to a hook 16 on the support 13. The spring 1 can be held with its loops close together by hooks 3 on one end loop engaging the other end loop.
