Abstract

829,137. Rotary compressors. NICHOLS, T. W. Feb. 21, 1958 [April 26, 1957], No. 13345/57. Class 110(2). An oil drain valve 7 for a rotary compressor, placed between the lowest point of the compressor and a compressed air receiver, opens automatically when the receiver pressure drops, and allows oil to drain from the compressor to the receiver. Fig. 2 shows one form of valve 7, kept closed by pressure from the receiver acting through a duct 5, on a piston 6, connected to the valve. A duct 8 in the piston may be dispensed with, spaces 9 and 5 being connected externally to allow oil drainage. Instead of a piston 6, a flexible bellows or a diaphragm may be connected to the valve.
