819,363. Clamps. HILDRED, A. K. Feb. 26, 1957 [April 4, 1956], No. 10321/56. Class 61. A clamp comprises a jaw 11 rigidly attached to the stem 10, a jaw 12 slidable on the stem 10 with sufficient play to allow it to tilt slightly and a work engaging member 16 adjustably carried by the sliding jaw in such manner as to enable it to be tightened against a workpiece engaging the fixed jaw and in being so tightened to cause the slidable jaw to tilt with respect to the stem and bind thereon. The member 16 comprises a half cylinder received in a cylindrical recess and rockable about two trunnions 19 so as to settle its flat face 17 upon the work-piece. The trunnions 19 are loosely received in slots 20 in the jaw 12 to render the member 16 movable bodily towards and away from the fixed jaw 11 by a finger screw 21. The slidable jaw 12 is connected to the stem 10 by a set screw 14 which engages a longitudinal key way 15 in the stem 10.
