Abstract

806,670. Aerating liquids. INDUSTRIKEMISKA A.B. Aug. 30, 1956 [Sept. 2, 1955], No. 26532/56. Classes 46 and 111. [Also in Group VI]. In a plant for aerating liquids, particularly liquid sewage, an aeration tube 1 includes a horizontal portion provided with perforations 4, and is connected at one end by a pipe 8 to an air feed line 3 and is provided at its other end with a downwardly extending portion 6 open at its lower end. The horizontal portion is disposed below the level of the liquid to be treated and the portion 6 extends to a depth where the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid exceeds the air pressure supplied to the tube. To flush the tube the feed line 3 may be supplied with water or the pipe 8 is disconnected from the air supply and supplied with water under pressure. Several such tubes 1 may be connected to the pipe 8 in which case the pipe has an open downwardly extending portion below the tubes the length of which is sufficient to prevent escape of the air.
