A duplex broaching-machine comprises two parallel tool-slides 60 each positively connected by gearing to a reversible driving-motor M. The motor M drives oppositely-rotating bevelgears connected by gears 40, 41 to herring-bone gears 46, 48, the latter meshing with racks on the rear sides of the slides 60. Automatic means may stop the machine at the end of each stroke. The work-pieces are mounted on holders 12 each being moved to-and-from working position by hydraulic means 15, a lever 17, 18 and a link 19.
