A sandal moulded in the flat of thermoplastic material comprises a sole 10 with a rim 11 of greater thickness than the inner part of the sole extending around its periphery and with five ribs 12 on each side and straps 13, 14, 17 which project symmetrically from the centre of the side edge of the rim 11 so that identical blanks can be used for right and left sandals, the straps singly being bent to the opposite side of the sole.
