741,790. Mixing fluids in flow in proportionate quantities. STAMICARBON N.V. Dec. 8, 1953 [Dec. 12, 1952], No. 34152/53 Class 86. [Also in Groups XII and XXXV] For regulating the composition of an oxygencontaining gas, e.g. air, and steam for a gas producer or blast furnace the steam supply is varied in accordance with deviations, from a set point of the temperature of the saturated mixture, condensed water is separated and the mixture then heated as by heat exchange with the steam on its way to the mixer to produce an unsaturated condition. Steam supplied through a line 4 is cooled in a heat exchanger 7 to saturation and passes to a mixer 3 to which air &c. is supplied through a line 1. The mixture flows through a separator 9 and the exchanger, condensate from both collecting in a steam trap 10. A temperature gauge 13, e.g. a contact thermometer, in the head of the separator or downstream of it affects a regulator 14 operating a valve 6 in the steam line. In a modification the steam on its way to the mixer is delivered under the surface of a water vessel the exchanger being heated by another steam supply tapped off from the main line.
