Abstract
685,345. Rolling. HUTTENWERK GEISWEID AKT.-GES. Jan. 1, 1951 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 72/51. Class 83 (iv). In a guide box for a rolling mill, one of a pair of guide-cheek carriers is rockable about an axis parallel to the material guided, so that the guide-cheeks may be moved apart for the insertion of the work. A guide box mounted in front of a rolling mill comprises a fixed guide-cheek carrier 9, and a movable carrier 6 rockable about a bolt 7 extending parallel to the axis of the work. A bolt 8 screwed in the carrier support 12 and engaging the side of the pivoted carrier 6 is rotatable by a lever (not shown) to rock the carrier 6 about its pivot for separating the cheeks 1 or bringing them together to engage the work. The checks are held in the carriers 6, 9 by screws 2 and are adjustable towards and away from each other in the carriers by wedges 3 which are moved by bolts 4 screwed in the wedges and rotatably fixed in plates 5 mounted on each of the carriers 6, 9.
