667,831. Thread-advancing reels. COURTAULDS, Ltd. March 20, 1950 [March 21, 1949], No. 6831/50. Class 120(ii) A thread-advancing reel comprises a driving shaft 19, two sets of cylindrical bars 10. 11, arranged substantially equidistant from the axis of the shaft to form the thread-supporting periphery of the reel, the bars 11 of the one set alternating with and being askew to the bars 10 of the other set, and mechanism, e.g. a stationary sun wheel 27 around the shaft 19 and carried by a sleeve 20 attached by a flange 50 to the machine frame, and planet wheels 25, 26 carried by the bars 10, 11 and a ring 15, for rotating the bars 10, 11 upon their own axes. By releasing a threaded pivot 48, a disc 12 supporting the ends of the bars 11 in bearings 41, may be rotated so that the askew relationship, of the bars 10. 11 may be varied.
