Abstract

Relates to fertilizer distributers of the type wherein dish-shaped conveying members rotate beneath an elongated hopper, from which they are fed with material through apertures in the base thereof and the material is ejected from the conveying members by paddle-like distributing members mounted on a transverse shaft and driven through gearing from the ground wheels of the machine. According to the invention, the paddle dimensions and the gear ratio are so chosen that the rotating paddles create a draught which assists the purely mechanical action of the paddles in spreading the fertilizer. The gearing may be such as to produce a spreading shaft speed of 1,000-1,200 r.p.m., and the paddle widths may be 3.0 to 3.5 cm. In addition, a blower may be provided with a plurality of nozzles arranged adjacent to the conveying members.
