Abstract

621,472. Angle gauges. VICKERSON, G. E., and VICKERSON, B. March 17, 1945, No. 6782. [ Class 97 (iii)] An instrument for testing angles comprises a straight edge d fixed to a base member b at the required angle to be tested (a right angle in the form shown), the base member being capable of being tilted about a horizontal axis at right angles to the straight edge by means of a micrometer screw l on the base member associated with a scale p indicating the angle of tilt. The base member b may be tiltably mounted on a base-plate a by means of two spaced balls j, located in conical recesses in the bottom side of the member b and in one conical recess and one " V " groove in the upper side of the base plate a. Alternatively, the balls may be located in the conically-recessed ends of set screws in the member b. The micrometer screw carries an arm n and pointer o co-operating with the scale p. The two plates a and b, which may each be of triangular shape, are adjustably attached by a screw f acting through a spring g.
