[Class 46] A cage enclosing the worm.(not shown) of an extrusion press is built up of longitudinal bars 11 each formed on a side 11d with a rib 11e adapted to abut against the side 11b of an adjacent bar. The rib 11e is formed with grooves 11f, each of which is inclined at an angle other than a right-angle to the edges of the rib. The depths of the grooves may increase in the direction away from the centre of the cage. The bars 11 are held together by means of key-bars 13 and shoe-bars 14. The worm is of reducing pitch.
