[Class 68 (ii)] Sheet piling is held in position by tie-bolts b arranged to sag easily under load by providing between the securing nuts d and washers c, plates e provided with small projections f through which the tensional load is transmitted. The projections f may be offset from the axis of the tie-bolt, and may taper or widen towards their ends. They may engage corresponding recesses in the washers and may be tapped to act as nuts. The surface of contact between a projection and a washer may be inclined to the axis of the bolt. Projections may be provided on both sides of the plate l.
