Abstract

A mix for use as a quick-setting mortar for macadamized roads consists of 2-5 per cent of bituminous material, 20-35 per cent of a filler such as calcined lime powder or powdered rock, and a cement. In preparing the mix, the filler is first mixed with an equal quantity of warm water and the bituminous material preferably in the form of an emulsion or liquefied by heat then added. The mixture is dried and triturated and the resultant powder is then mixed with the cement.
