Abstract

368,874. Galvanic batteries. TEMPLE, F., East Street, Alford, Lincolnshire. Dec. 23, 1930, No. 38642. [Class 53.] The plates c of a storage battery are arranged so that the edges c<1> of one set of plates face the edges of the other set, both sets of plates being suspended from the cover b by screws and nuts f which also close grease cups b<3> formed in the cover. In order to prevent the plates from turning axially the lugs d are of rectangular shape at their upper ends and fit into corresponding recesses in the underside of the cover. Fig. 4 shows an alternative arrangement in which movement of the plates is prevented by means of a spacing member h which is wedged between the plates. The member h is grooved to receive the edges of the plates which are pressed outwardly against the sides of the container. The battery may be provided with a carrier g of known construction.
