Abstract

359,054. Discharge lamps. BAIRD, J. L. and TELEVISION, Ltd., 133, Long Acre, London. Sept. 13, 1930, No. 1345. [Class 39 (i).] To increase the glow intensity, an internal electrode comprises mutually inclined planes 13, 14 which are integral along one edge and are coated with insulating material, e.g. mica) on one side, another electrode 16 being disposed outside the smaller angle formed by the planes. The inclination between the planes may be 60‹. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the electrode 16 may be disposed within the smaller angle. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the glowing electrode consists of a corrugated rectangle having thirteen plane surfaces coated on one side with insulating material ; a flat plate or network electrode is disposed parallel thereto. The filling may consist of neon. The invention is applicable to lamps constructed according to Specifications 321,930 and 328,691, [both in Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.].
