Abstract
344,316. Roller-and-breast grinding mills. SMITH, S., 57, Quadrant House, Pall Mall, London. June 24, 1930, No. 19197. [Class 59.] The casing 2 is provided with one or more completely enclosed, removable, outlet chambers 6 which receive the ground paint, ink &c. The chamber c o m - prises two inclined sides which form fixed breast bars which bear against the roller 1, and a cover 11 forms a closure member which prevents dust &c. mixing with the paint &c. The cover 11 is provided with an outlet 12 and one or more spring-constrained scrapers 9 may be pivoted in the chamber. A breast bar may be attached to the cover 6 and be adjustable toward the roll by screws. The material to be ground is fed to the roll through a hopper 3 and the roll may be reciprocated longitudinally by a peg on the cover engaging in a cam groove on the roller.
