Abstract

336,882. Hardy Bros. (Alnwick) 1928, Ltd., and Hardy, L. R. Jan. 2, 1930. Reels. rod.-Fishing-reels, of the type having a non-reversible handle connected with the drum by a friction clutch which serves as a brake operated by means independent of the handle, have a drum engaged by the friction clutch on positive rotation of the handle, irrespective of and without affecting the setting of the brake tension. The drum c, Fig. 4, is mounted loosely on a sleeve e and has a friction washer r engaged by a boss r on the handle f to which is attached a member 5 with cams 4. These cams coact with cams 3 on a washer 2 adjusted by a thumb-wheel w and rotatable with the sleeve. The drum has a. starwheel g, Fig. 3, engaged by a detent h on the back-plate, while the sleeve e has a ratchet-wheel k engaged by a reverse-check pawl m taken out of action by a cam p and lever q.
