Abstract

295,380. Lindman, K. W. Aug. 12, 1927, [Convention date]. Washing-machines with rotary receptacles are provided with curved deflecting plates 42 secured to the inside of the stationary casing 1 or to a supporting ring or to the inside of the cover 2 for stopping the movement of the water carried round by the rotation of the clothes receptacle 4 and deflecting it to the interior of the receptacle. The receptacle may be imperforate or may be provided with perforations which are uncovered during centrifuging. The receptacle is carried by a sleeve 5 secured to a shaft 8 which is slidably mounted in bearings 12, 21. The shaft can be raised and lowered by a lever 25, a ball 24 engaging the shaft and a recess 23 in the lever. The shaft carries a friction disc 16 which in the lowered position of the shaft engages a friction wheel 18 on the shaft of an electric motor 19. Other gearing may be used in place of the friction drive. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) referred also to modifications in which channels, pipes or the like were used in place of the deflecting plates. This subject. matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
