Mangling and wringing apparatus.-In yarn dyeing and like machines, to avoid lubrication difficulties the upper of a pair of squeezing rollers R, R<1> is mounted in antifriction bearings in housings R<*> provided with small flanged rollers B running on the vertical guides A. Sliding on the guides A also is a cross-bar C by means of which pressure is applied to the roller R through a right and left hand screw D and spring S. The cross-bar C also slides on rods C<1> carried bv the housing R<*>, and the screw D is rotated by a hand-wheel H and bevel gear E. F. The pressure applied may be indicated by a scale connected to the bar C and guides A. A continued movement of the handwheel in the reverse direction lifts the upper roller R off the lower roller, by means of the heads C<2> of the rods C', preventing damage to the rollers by their being left in contact. Squeezing rollers of two or more tanks may be connected and driven together by sprockets and chains in lieu of shafts and bevel wheels; and the guide rollers in the tanks may have antifriction bearings.
