Abstract

A display board frame 10 comprises a planar body 11 with a window (15, Fig. 1) open to the front of the body shaped to receive a digital display unit 21, e.g. a digital photo frame. The digital display unit is programmable to control its display. The window 15 has sides 16 and a rear 18 with apertures 24,25 to provide access to ports, e.g. USB port and/or controls 29. The digital display unit is removably held within the recess by resilient clip means 28. An upper part of the frame may be provided with a tongue 12 formed into a hook 17 for hanging the display, e.g. from a sun visor of a vehicle. The digital display may be programmed to display the price of a vehicle for sale.

Description

ADisplay Board
Field
This invention relates to an information display.board which is usable for displaying prices and other information and is especially for use with cars or commerbial vehicles.
Background of the InventiQn
When displaying vehicles for sale, garages need to place notices displaying price information relating to specific vehicles on or in proximity to the vehicle. A known method of displaying the information is to place a notice board within a vehicle and which is mounted on the sun visor and/or mirror. The notice typically hangs verfically downwards and is viewed through the vehicle windscreen.
Such a notice board is disclosed in GB-A-24l5 281 which comprises a substantially planar body with a front face and a rear face and having a plutality of spaced apart windows therein with a pocket located on the rear face for holding a card or information sheet having indicia thereon located in positions for display through a respective select window.
A problem with the above type of display is that an * Individual card or folded sheet having particular information in a particular arrangement must be used in co-operation with the pocket and apertures such that the sheets or card need to individually printed for display in a particular notice board.
The present invention provided a display board having a display which facilitates change to display different information and indicia.
Statement of Invention
According to the present invention there is provided a display board having a substantially planar body with a front and rear, the body having a recess therein open to the front and extending rearwardly and shaped to receive a digital photo display unit which has a programmable memory for control of its display and, which is programmable through ports and controls to alter the display, the recess having sides and a base with the photo frame being removably held within the recess.
Preferably the sides and/or base of the recess have apertures therein to provide access to the ports and/or controls.
A Digital Photo display unit is a small, rudimentary computer -complete with CPU ("Central Processing Unit") and memory performing the dedicated tasks of downloading and displaying digital images. The unit when incorporated into what appears to be a traditional picture frame is sometimes known as a digital photo frame. A typical Digital photo display has a bright, high-resolution, LCD ("Liquid Crystal Display") screen, for actually displaying the.images,.flash memory (either built-in, or supplemented by additional memory cards), capable of storing many (perhaps up to 80, or so) digital images -each of which can be displayed, individually, at will, and, typically, connections for digital cameras, computers and memory card readers etc.. Digital photo display units may display the pictures directly from a camera's memory card and some allow users to upload pictures to the frame's memory via a USB connection, and/or wirelessly via bluetooth technology. Most 7 inch (17.8 cm) models show images at 430 x 234 pixels.
The picture display has the advantage that the display on the screen can all be changed simply by selection of another image from the memory.
The body may be formed from any suitable plastics material for example, polyolefin such as high density polyethylene or polypropylene, polycarbonate, 1-\BS.
A tongue may be located at a centre portion of the upper edge of the body and is formed into a hook shape for hanging the display board from a suitable support, e.g. a sun visor.
The digital photo display unit may held in the recess by resilient clip means acting between the body and the photo * frame and preferably at least one portion of the body or frame engaging a detent in the other of the body and frame.

Detailed Description of the Invention
With reference to Figs. 1 to 4, there is shown a dispLay board 10 which comprises a planar body 11 and a tongue 12 extending away from one edge of the body, the upper edge in use. The body may be any desired shape and this case for example only is rectangular having a rear 13 and a front 14. The body 11 is formed from a relatively light rigid material and may be moulded from a suitable plastics material such as polycarbonate, ABS, or a polyolefin such as polypropylene. *
The tongue 12 is located at the centre portion of the upper edge of the body 11 and is formed integrally with the body 11. The tongue 12 is preferably shaped to form a hook 17 for suspending the display board 10 from a suitable support such as rear view mirror or a sun visor.
The body 11 has a recess 15 therein open to the front thereof. The recess 15 projects rearwardly and has sides 16 and a base 18. The recess is shaped to accommodate a digital photo display unit 21 in this example a digital photo frame 21, having a forwardly facing display screen 22. The sides and base of the recess are provided with 1.0 apertures 23,24, 25 to facilitate access to ports 26,27 for example a USB port and memory card port and controls 28,29 provided on the photo frame 21. The screen 22 is shown as a raised screen but could be a flat screen if required.
The photo frame 21 may be an. interference fit in t.he recess 15 or alternatively the photo frame may be held in the recess by resilient clip means. The clip means may comprise a portion of the recess or photo frame which engages a detent on the other of. the recess or photo frame. The resilient clip may comprise a raised rib 28 on the photo frame that engages the edge of the aperture 23 in the recess sidewall 16. Alternatively a separate clip means may be provided. . -25. . The picture display unit 21 may be provided without the frame.

Claims (6)

  1. Claims 1. A display board having a substantially planar body with a front and rear, the body having a recess therein open to the front and extending rearwardly and being shaped to receive a digital photo display unit which has a programmable memory for control of its display and which is programmable through ports and controls to alter the display, the recess having sides and a base with the photo frame being removably held within the recess.
  2. 2. A display board as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the sides and/or base of the recess having apertures therein to provide, access to the ports and/or controls.
  3. 3. A display board as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 and having a tongue located at a centre portion of the upper edge of the body and which is formed into a hook shape for.hanging the display board from a suitable support.
  4. 4. A display board as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3, wherein the digital photo display unit is held in the recess byresilient clip means acting between the body and the unit.
  5. 5. A display board as claimed in Claim 4, wherein at least one portion of the body or unit engages a detent in the other of the body and unit.
  6. 6. A display board which is substantially as described herein and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
