Abstract

Composite bricks and blocks; bricks and blocks, special shapes of. - Mine galleries, tunnels, or shafts are lined with wedgeshaped blocks a of thin concrete or like material, either of angle form, as shown in Fig. 1, T-shape, or U-shape, as shown in Fig. 3. The blocks may be provided with perforations or recesses such as b, Fig. 12, or be provided with central portions which are reduced in thickness or breadth or in both directions, as illustrated in Fig. 16. Bonding recesses c may also be provided. Heat insulation material a, y, Fig. 23, may be fitted to the inner or outer faces which material may have a recess i to permit deformation, and may be offset, Fig. 25, to break joint with the blocks proper.
