Abstract

240,535. Riddick, C. July 1, 1924. Violin &c. tuning-pins.-The head of a peg is connected to the shank by gearing preferably of sun and planet type, whereby turning of the head in either direction moves the shank in the same direction at a reduced speed. To the head 12 is secured a spindle 3 carrying a sun pinion 7. The shank 1 carries a cap 2 in which are formed one set of bearings 6a for the planet wheels 6, the other set of bearings being formed in a plate 10. These parts are enclosed in a sleeve 8 which is fixed tightly in one of the holes of the peg-box and is provided with internal teeth 9 for engagement with the pinions 6. A spring washer 13 assists to hold the peg in any position into which it is turned.
