Description

A CONTROL APPARATUS FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE 2300980 The invention relates to a
control apparatus for a motor vehicle.
In a motor vehicle, the electrical connection of a sensor, f or example a speed sensor or a coolant sensor in the engine compartment, to evaluation electronics or display unit in the car interior can be achieved with cable and plug-in connectors.
An electric plug-and-socket device for cable forms, with which device apparatuses distributed around a motor vehicle are electrically connected to each other, is known from each of the printed publications DE 23 16 521 and GB 12 09 719. Each apparatus is connected to a plug-in connector of the plug-and-socket device by ribbon-cables. By way of lines in the plugand-socket device, selected terminals of various plugin connectors are directly connected to each other, so that selected apparatuses are directly electrically connected to each other.
In DE 92 11 238 U1, such a plug-and-socket device is used in a computer. Fan, temperature sensor and power supply of the computer are connected to the plugand-socket device by way of a respective ribbon-cables.
The invention seeks to provide with simple means a direct electrical connection between two electrical apparatuses of a motor vehicle.
According to the present invention, there is provided a control apparatus for a motor vehicle, the control apparatus having a wall in which at least two plug-in connectors are arranged, each plug-in connector being electrically connected to the control apparatus such that an electrical apparatus connected to a plugin connector is electrically connected to the control apparatus, and wherein a line or a cable directly connects to each other at least one terminal of each of the two plug-in connectors, so that the apparatuses is which are connected to the plug-in connectors are directly electrically connected to each other.
The invention has the advantage that an individual cable between the two electrical apparatuses is not required.
Advantageous developments of the invention are set out in the subclaims.
For a better understanding of the present invention, and to show how it may be brought into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 shows a section through a device in accordance with the invention; and Figure 2 shows a plan view of a further exemplary embodiment of the device in accordance with the invention.
A control apparatus 1 (Figure 1) in a motor vehicle, for example an engine-control apparatus, has a housing 2, in the side wall of which are arranged diverse plug-in connectors 3, 4. By way of the plug-in connectors 3, 4 and cables (not represented), electrical apparatuses in the motor vehicle are connected to the control apparatus 1. Each electrical apparatus may be for example a sensor which delivers signals to the engine control (such as speed sensor, cooling water thermometer, for example), or an actuator to which control signals from the engine control are delivered.
Other control apparatuses, such as a gear control apparatus or an ABScontrol apparatus, for example, can also be used as electrical apparatuses. Likewise, evaluation electronics and display units (not represented), such as speed display or temperature display, in the car interior can be seen as electrical apparatuses.
In the exemplary embodiments, a sensor in the engine compartment is connected to the circuit of the control apparatus 1 by way of an engine plug 3, and a display unit in the car interior is connected to the circuit of the control apparatus 1 by way of a body plug 4. If these two electrical apparatuses, which are connected to the control apparatus 1 anyway, are also to be directly connected to each other, then in accordance with the invention, a cable 5 is arranged in the control apparatus 1, which cable directly connects to each other at least one corresponding terminal 6 of the engine plug 3 and a terminal 7 of the body plug 4. This cable 5 then connects the two terminals 6, 7 of the two plug-in connectors 3, 4 to each other and consequently also connects the two electrical apparatuses to each other because the electrical apparatuses are connected to the plug-in connectors 3, 4. The function of the control apparatus 1 is not impaired by this ',short- circuit", i.e. this electrical connection to each other.
The electrical connection between the terminals 6, 7 and a circuit in the interior of the control apparatus 1 is not represented. Signals which come from an electrical apparatus or are sent there are evaluated or produced in the circuit. The signals are not disrupted by the cable 5.
By the device in accordance with the invention, the electrical apparatuses are directly connected to each other without additional plug- in connectors being required. Only one cable 5 is used, which cable is arranged in a cover 8 of the control apparatus 1, for example, and is welded onto the terminals 6, 7 of the plug-in connectors 3, 4 in each case.
Instead of a cable 5, one or more strip conductors 9 on a printed-circuit board 10 can also serve as an electrical connection between the terminals 6, 7 of the two plug-in connectors 3, 4 (see Figure 2). In this case, the terminals 6, 7 of the two plug-in connectors 3, 4 are welded onto the printed-circuit board 10 at contact spots of the strip conductors. Further strip conductors and components which are allocated to the circuit of the control apparatus 1 are not represented for reasons of clarity.
If the plug-in connectors 3, 4 in the control apparatus 1 are close together in terms of space, then the cable length or the line length is very short. This has the advantage that electromagnetic irradiation or radiation in relation to the electromagnetic compatibility is as low as possible.
