Description
BULK MATERIAL CONVEYING EQUIPMENT 1 2265132 The present invention relates
to bulk material conveying equipment for material transloading at storage sites.
Equipments of this kind can be used for the removal of a material heap and for subsequent transloading onto wagons, into bunkers or at another storage location when a material -receiving device is incorporated into the equipment. This device is, of course, redundant when the equipment is intended for material depositing to form heaps or piles. In known equipment the material-receiving device is often a bucket wheel. This throws the material picked up from a heap onto a rubber belt conveyor disposed on a conveying jib. The conveyor could also be a corrugated conveyor.
There remains a need for bulk material conveying equipment which is lighter than known equipment' and consequently also cheaper to manufacture.
According to the present invention there is provided bulk material conveying equipment for material transloading at storage sites, comprising a movable gantry, a column arranged on the gantry, a jib mounted on the column to be pivotable upwardly and downwardly and swivellable, and a single belt conveyor which extends in the jib, column and gantry to transport material from the free end of the jib to a region below the gantry and which comprises a base belt and a cover belt co-operable to convey the material therebetween.
2 - In a preferred embodiment the equipment comprises a mobile gantry construction, with a tubular column on which a pivot bearing, a turntable and a pivot drive are disposed, wherein a conveying jib, a ballast jib, a pylon and guy cables are arranged on the turntable while forming a rocker which is provided with joints and can be moved by piston-cylinder means. A single cover belt conveyor, which comprises a base belt and a cover belt, is provided as the conveying means and extends from the dump end of the conveying jib by way of this through the column to a storage site belt underneath the gantry construction. Preferably, the cover belt ends above the storage site belt and the base belt is continued as the storage site belt. The conveyor can be suspended and guided in the tubular column in such a manner that pivotation of the conveying jib with the assistance of the pivot mechanism permits a rotation of the conveyor about its vertical conveying axis of substantially +90' to substantially 180' resulting from the pivot angle of the conveying jib. The belt conveyor can comprise a drive reversible in its direction of rotation and a material-receiving device, which is pivotable upwardly or to the side, can be mounted at the end of the conveying jib. This device 20 preferably comprises a grab head, which is rotatable about its vertical axis, with a worm conveyor arranged concentrically therein, wherein a transfer channel preferably of rectangular cross-section and constant height can be arranged between an outlet opening of a tubular casing of the worm conveyor and an intake or entry opening of the 25 conveyor. The width of the channel and the intake can be limited by the tangents to the casing and to a notional circle with a diameter of f substantially 80 to 90% of the internal diameter of the casing. The intake (hopper throat) of the belt conveyor can have a width which is determined by the spacing of the points of incidence of the tangents in the.lowest part of the intake.
The suspension of the vertical portion, which is disposed in the column, of the belt conveyor and the twisting of this portion during pivotation of the conveying jib can be effected in, for example, the manner as described in German patent application P 41 38 226.9. The transfer of the material from the material -receiving device to the belt conveyor can also be as described in this German patent application.
Equipment embodying the invention may represent a substantial improvement over known examples of such equipment. The combination of different constructional details and techniques allows a particularly advantageous construction to arise. The equipment has no belt transfer points, and accordingly no accelerating power is required and no loss of driving power occurs. There are no dust sources within the equipment and no significant source of noise in the structure of the belt drive. The belt conveyor drive can be arranged on the ground at the storage site. Due to removal of belt and transfer points, the number of maintenance points is reduced. A belt loop carriage is superfluous and no loss of usable storage area arises for this reason.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be more particularly described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
The single figure of which is a schematic elevation of equipment embodying the invention.
Referring now to the drawing there is shown constantly conveying transloading equipment for bulk material, which can be moved on a storage site. Bulk material heaps 2 are shown to the left and the right beside the equipment, which is illustrated in a configuration for removal of the material from the lefthand heap.
A superstructure of the transloading equipment rests on a tubular column 14, which is in turn incorporated in a mobile gantry construction 15. The column comprises a pivot bearing 13, which carries a turntable 12. The superstructure, which consists of a conveying jib 6, a ballast jib 7, a pylon 8 and guy ropes 9, forms a rocker which is moved with the aid of piston-cylinders 10 and rests by joints 11 on the turntable. This rockable superstructure is pivoted by a pivot mechanism (not illustrated).
A single cover belt conveyor 5, which consists of a base belt 3 and a cover belt 4, serves as the conveying means in the equipment and extends from the free end of the conveying jib 6 over the entire length of this jib, is then deflected into the column 14 and extends down to below the gantry construction 15. The cover belt 4 ends there, whilst the base belt 3 is continued to form a storage site belt.
A material -receiving device 1, which is needed only for the removal of bulk material heaps, is arranged at the free end of the conveying jib 6. In equipment intended for selectable removal and formation of heaps, the device 1 is mounted at the conveying jib 6 to be pivotable upwardly or to the side. This position is illustrated in dashed lines. The device 1 is, of course, tilted up from the jib 6 when the equipment is used for forming material heaps. This would be superfluous if the equipment is designed exclusively for depositing into heaps.
The vertical portion of the belt conveyor 5 can be suspended within the column 14 in the manner as -described in the German patent application P 41 35 467.2. This conveyor portion can twist within the column. according to the pivot angle which the superstructure executes by way of the turntable 12.
The speed of the belt conveyor 5 is advantageously about equal to the speed at which the bulk material is thrown from the device 1 into a hopper throat of the belt conveyor.
Expepiently, the rocker joint 11 of the equipment is arranged to be high so that sufficient length is available for the twisting of the belt conveyor 5 within the column 14. This has the advantage, - moreover, that the conveyor jib 6 can stand above the heap 2, whilst the jib 6 moves along a full heap 2. To that extent, any desired point of the heap can be dug into, for example for the cleaning of pockets of combustion.
