Charging. - The framework of an endless belt conveyer for feeding articles to a leer is oscillated about a vertical axis and at the same time moved longitudinally in order to deposit the ware in a straight line across the leer. Wheels 34 on brackets 32, 33 depending from the framework 120 of the conveyer 90 run on a track 20 which is rotatably mounted on a vertical tube 18. A platform 22 suspended from the track carries a motor 23 which drives a spur gear 28 in engagement with a fixed arcuate rack 29. A switch reverses the motor at the limits of the oscillation. An arm 320 pivoted on the track 20 is connected by a link 330 with the framework 120 and by a link 35 with a reciprocating cam follower 340, Fig. 5. A pin 36 on the mamber 340 engages a groove 37 formed in a gear 38 which is actuated by a gear 40 mounted on the same shaft as the gear 28. When the ware is to be set on end on the conveyer in the leer, it is discharged from the belt 90 into a pocket 48, one wall of which is formed by pivoted plates 47. A pusher plate 45 reciprocated by cam 42 actuated by a motor 41 pushes the ware from the pocket into the leer. When small ware is being dealt with, it is discharged from the belt 90 on to an inclined plate 49 detachably mounted in the opening of the leer. The tube 18 is used for supplying compressed air to nozzles 17 which direct the blast on to the conveyer 90.
