Electric clocks; escapements. - In electric clocks the movement of which is maintained for long periods, the battery 29 is of annular form and housed in the case, Fig. 5, several carbon rods 30 being connected by wire embedded in the pitch &c. 31 to the positive terminal which is connected to an insulated boss 97 by a switch 99 with insulated contact pin 100, Fig. 7. The movement is maintained by pallets 48 on a lever 49 rocked by a second lever 57 carrying the guided armature 59 in a forked extension, which pallets engage and drive the pin wheel 47 through half a tooth space on each oscillation. The lever 49 is controlled by a balance of usual construction through a pin wheel and a toothed sector on the lever. The electromagnetic circuit is established by a lever 63, Fig. 10, carrying an insulated stud 65 in light rubbing contact with the insulated spring 66 in the circuit. This lever is rocked bv a stud 62 on the lever 49 and contact is made at 65, 62 once in each vibration on the inward movement of the armature 59. The circuit is broken when the amplitude exceeds a predetermined amount by a lever 68 adapted to be rocked by the pin 62 and carrying an insulated pin 70, which raises the spring 66 out of contact with the pin 65. The spring and pin 70 are disengaged on the next swing of the lever but always re-engaged to avoid contact 65, 66 until the amplitude falls to a certain value. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also alarm-bell mechanism which now forms the subject-matter of Specification 220,335 and a battery which forms the subject-matter of Specification 220,334, [Class 53, Galvanic batteries]. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
