Abstract

A filtering apparatus has a drum 10 with a cylindrical filter surface through which air to be filtered passes. The drum is continuously rotated, and a stationary washing and wetting station is arranged below the axis of rotation of the drum to wash the separated solids from the filter surface and to wet the surface to assist the deposition on solid particles. The wetting station may comprise either a nozzle tube 23 fed with recycled liquid, e.g. oil, from a collecting tank 19, or an immersion tank into which the drum dips. <IMAGE>
