Abstract

An automatic firearm pivotally adjustable through a large angle for sighting purposes and having a feeding device for feeding an ammunition clip (6) from a magazine (7) to a feed window (2) of the firearm. The feeding device comprises a first transfer gear (8) which transfers the clip (6) from the magazine to move in a first plane perpendicular to the pivot (3) of the firearm, a second transfer gear (11) which reverses the movement of the clip (6) to move the latter in a second plane perpendicular to the pivot (3) of the firearm, and a third transfer gear (12) which transfers the clip (6) from the second plane to the feed window (2). The first transfer gear (8) occupies a fixed position relative to the magazine (7) whereas the third transfer gear (12) is fixed to the firearm for movement therewith. The second transfer gear (11) is pivotally adjustable in order to vary the lengths of the runs of the clip (6) in the first and second planes so as to compensate for the pivotal adjustment of the firearm. To this end, the second transfer gear (11) is coupled via an arm (13) and a differential transmission (14) with the pivot (3) so that pivotal adjustment of the firearm through a given angle in either direction is accompanied by pivotal adjustment of the second transfer gear (11) in the same direction but through one half of the given angle. <IMAGE>
