Abstract

1537290 Erecting towers REDPATH DORMAN LONG (NORTH SEA) Ltd 6 July 1977 [6 July 1976] 28103/76 Heading B8B A tower is constructed by placing a second tower unit 22 alongside a first unit 21 secured to the ground, hoisting the second unit along guides at one side of the first unit into an intermediate position, securing a lifting frame 32, 33 beneath the second unit and hoisting the frame along the guides until the base of the second unit is aligned with the top of the first unit, when the second unit is slid on to the first unit for securement thereto. The frame is thereafter lowered and removed whilst a third unit is hoisted into the intermediate position ready for the lifting frame to be used again. All the tower units have guide rails along the one side and skid surfaces on their top faces, the guides being engaged by removable rollers on the units and lifting frame. The tower units may be secured to a carrying pallet until reaching the sliding position.
