Machine guns.-Consists in absorbing the recoil of the breech-block o of an automatic firearm by two springs m<0>, m<1>, which react successively to close the breech and actuate the striker p. The spring m<0> acts directly upon a downward projection A of the breech-block, but a slider C is interposed between the breech-block and the spring m<1>. A pivoted spring-pressed detent g, g<1> retains the slider C in the rearward position until the detent is rocked by a stud r on the forwardlyproving breech-block. The slider is then impelled on to the striker p. by the spring m<1>.
