Abstract

1472554 Switch casings; automatic circuit breakers WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 18 Nov 1974 [28 Nov 1973] 49742/74 Heading H1N A circuit breaker comprises, supported in a moulded insulating housing 11, a circuit breaker mechanism having contacts, a supporting frame 19 held in the housing by insulating support means and carrying tripping means on an arm 51, and a cradle 41 pivotally supported on the insulating support means and retained latched by the tripping means under normal conditions but released under overload conditions to effect opening of the contacts wherein the insulating support means comprises a support post having a portion 87 which supports the supporting frame 19 and a portion 93 which supports the cradle 41. The cradle has a slot 95 which sits on the support post so that the cradle can pivot about the post. The supporting frame is press-fitted on to the support post. A cover 13 is secured on to the housing 11 and has a post 97 which engages with the portion 93 of the support post and which has a portion 99 which overlaps the support post portion 93 to an extent to leave a slot between itself and portion 87 of the support post, the cradle being supported in this slot.
