Abstract

1426704 Flexible shaft couplings ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 17 May 1974 [30 May 1973] 22092/74 Heading F2U The end surfaces 3, 4 of the shafts of a flexible shaft coupling are conical or spherical so that when the shafts are in line parallel with one another they just make contact with each other at a point in the centre, while when the shafts are at an angle rolling occurs between the end surfaces. The torque transferring spring 5 may be of rectangular or circular cross-section. Two such couplings may be used when the driving shaft and driven shaft of, for example, a pump are parallel but spaced apart radially.
