Abstract

1402546 Transducer circuits IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 13 July 1972 [15 July 1971] 33236/71 Heading G1N [Also in Divisions H3 and H4] A transducer controlled variable frequency oscillator comprises a capacitive feedback integrator 12 followed by a Schmitt type switch 10 providing a bi-polar output which switches when the input is a predetermined fraction of and of opposite polarity to the output, and a variable coupling unit including a transformer L 1 coupling the output of the switch to the input of the integrator. Zener diodes 24 limit the output levels of the switch and a resistor R4 in the feedback path of the integrator advances the phase and so steepens the output edges. In order to maintain positive feedback when the output of the transformer is pbsitive or negative the integrator is biased by means of a resistor R5 which may be variable continuously or discretely. The coupling unit includes an amplifier 34 having a feedback circuit matched in time constant to that of the transformer to compensate for low frequency loss. As shown, the coupling is varied by means of a core 32 sensitive to the load or pressure but in Fig. 6 (not shown) the secondary of the transformer feeds into a bridge network which responds to a quantity to be measured to effect the variation.
