Abstract

1401604 Hook fastenings F HESTERBERG & SOHNE 12 Feb 1974 [8 March 1973] 06352/ 74 Heading E2A A self-tightening fastening device for securing a bottom-hinged side and/or tail board of a lorry, comprises a base plate 1, a swing catch 3 provided with a hook end 12, which engages a member 15 attached to a member to be secured, and a cam slot 4 slidably engaging a collar stud 2 fixed to the base plate, a spring 9 being mounted in the slot 4 and engaging the stud 2 and one end of the slot and the catch 3 being pivotally connected to a hand lever 6 rotatable parallel to the base plate. To engage the catch as shown in the Fig, movement of lever 6, pivoted to the base plate 1 by a pin 5 and to the catch by a hinge pin 8, to a position where the pins 5, 8 and stud 2 lie along a line 26 compresses spring 9 to its maximum extent further movement of the lever 6 to engage the catch causes the spring to bias hook end 12 towards the member 15. The cam slot 4 is designed to allow clearance 22 between the end of slot 22 and stud 2 to take up relative displacement of any parts of the device. Two catches may be provided arranged to cooperate with retainers on opposite sides of a centre column of a lorry.
