Abstract

1388899 Floor treating compositions WERNER & MERTZ GmbH 27 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 14287/72 Heading C3P Floor treating compositions comprise (1) an aqueous plastics dispersion, (2) 0À5 to 50% by weight of the dry solids of an emulsifiable wax which is an oxidized linear polyethylene of molecular weight 5000 to 20,000, having an acid number of 20 to 50 and a softening point of 130 to 150‹ C., (3) an emulsifying agent serving to maintain said plastics and said product dispersed in the water and (4) a synthetic detergent not serving to maintain said plastics and said product dispersed in the water. The plastics material may be a styrene/acrylate copolymer, e.g. a copolymer of styrene, ethyl acrylate and butyl acrylate. The cleaning substance may be an alkyl phenol/ethylene oxide adduct, optionally together wth trisodium phosphate. The wax may be obtained by oxidative cracking of a polyethylene prepared in the presence of a supported chromium oxide catalyst. The compositions may also contain resins, e.g. styrene/ maleic anhydride copolymers; plasticizers, e.g. dibutyl phthalate, glycols and glycol ethers; and wetting agents, e.g. fluorinated carboxylic acids; and perfumes.
